Bill Ruger's favorite gun. Said he couldn't make money on them because of how well they were made. My favorite revolver.

Not for the price he sold them at.

Thanks for reviewing a classic revolver! Ruger replaced the Security Six with the GP100 as they needed to reduce production costs. New kid 'Taurus' was on the rise with significantly lower priced revolvers making S&W, Colt and Ruger 'expensive' (not to mention the popular rise in semiauto pistols). The new manufacturing processes allowed Ruger to produce the GP100 at a lower price point and gain profitability. I'm a huge Ruger fan and happen to own both a 6 in. blued Security Six and a 6 in. SS GP100. The GP100 is a 'tack driver' - I haven't spent a lot of time with the Security Six yet.

I can tell by the sound of the action that it is buttery smooth. Take care and God bless you.

I been wanting a 6” Security six to go along side my 4” and complete my 6” revolver collection. Anyhow that 4” Security Six put 4 out of 6 on a 12” plate at 100 yards. Now I did have to aim at the top of the plate to do it but I thought that was impressive. My load was a powder coated Lyman 358311 on top of a stout charge of H110. I’ll never let that revolver get away from me. Just a really enjoyable revolver that I picked up for a song in comparison to other brands in its category.

Great video as always, like a waterbury watch, are you referring to timex? Just wondering because I'm from waterbury Connecticut.

They made real cheap watches there. When I was a kid they were a buck.

I brought service six 4" barrel blue used at the local gun show for $110.00 back in 1990. I love it until I blew it up with reload ammo over pressure. I think I can replace cylinder for $30.00 but the factory in South Port exchanged it with GP-100 for $188.00 in 1991 with $5.00 rebate shipped director to me in MA. I collected Security Six both SS and blue new in Box.

I would love to find a six inch one. Blued or stainless, either way. I love my four inch stainless. Part of my permanent collection. Hope your health is improving, George.

WHAT Hogue Mono Grip? It’s a real pain finding the right grips to replace the original wood.
