The remake you're referring to is just the HD mode, which isn't any newer than the NES game. I have also played the HD mode and will be uploading a video of it relatively soon.

Just so it's clear, that isn't really a bonus stage, it's just a glitch. This video does show how you get to it. It seems to involve one player entering that door in the attic stage while the camera is far enough to the right, which is why player 2 doesn't use the ropes to get to the other side.
