Ruination: Mod №2 - Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back

INTERESTING FACT: As it was shown in the E3 preview video, this level used to have a stone signpost which rose from the abyss, showing an "easy" and "hard" path. Although the signpost has been removed in the final release, the code and data for it still remain in the game's files and are completely functional. The "hard" path eventually became the Green Gem path.

To me, Ruination is also one of my favourite levels, but it's beaten by the futuristic levels Piston it Away and Spaced Out, as well as Cold Hard Crash.

CrashEdit, the program with which Mods are being made, has an option to solidify the nitro crates, usually in order to make them acting as a step or a staircase.

Some parts of the level are gonna be a real nightmare because they're too dark due to the lightning! For example the spinning and tilting platforms look invisible.

The reason they looked like that is because of the Mod. They are not presented in this way in the original level, nor in the one from Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.

I could never work out how to kill the lizards, they can be killed right? It also took me ages to work out that the giant walking robots in Piston it away have to killed by a sliding attack.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to see it because, as I stated, it was removed from the original level. The only way to see the signpost is if you activate it by using GameShark or Cheat Engine.

Yes, there is. Both for a sound and for animation, and both are from the original level, not from the Mod.

2:30 - Was that a fake Nitro Box? I just wondered since I noticed that you touched it without taking any damage, and you weren't even in Invincibility Mode.

Yeah I had a feeling that it was a Nitro Box since it still made noise like a Nitro Box. I guess the outcome would have been very different had or if you were able to spin it.

Hey, I know you. You are one of the Wikia's administrators. I didn't know you have a KZbin channel as well. Awesome! Anyway, that nitro crate isn't considered as fake, because, as you said, it does make a noise. What's different is that its top is solidified. It's an option that CrashEdit (the program by which Mods are made) has. However, while standing on it, if Crash spins, he will be blown up.
