Now THAT'S a starter project! No weird foam or plastic I'd have to go out and buy, just plain old cardboard boxes, glue and sand.

32mm like warhammer 40k, you'll have to do some maths to work out how to scale the template but I'm sure you can.

How come it's a twelve month wait ? Do you long term hibernate ? Your tutorials are really good. I especially liked the surreal ending. I started making scratch dioramas when I was unemployed and had no money. It was tutorials like yours that helped me keep going. Great stuff mate.
@Miscast7 жыл бұрын
I was only joking (I think) There should be a new tutorial out soon, I'm half way through production. I'm not hibernating, if there's no video for a little while its likely I'm busy with work. The tutorials take a very long time to make and refine, and I'm still trying to find a balance. I really appreciate the kind words and I want to produce as much quality content for you as I can. Keep an eye out, more cool stuff soon :)

this is cardboard, is there somthing your doing to stop warping ?
@Miscast7 жыл бұрын
Yes this is just cardboard, and no I'm not doing anything in particular to stop it warping. I have noticed some things though: 2 months later its held up very well, and no warping has occured. Some minor warping did occur when I got impatient and used a hair dryer to speed up the drying process, however my other test models for the building didn't warp when I let them air dry over night. The cardboard is very maluable when its still partly wet, so you can bend back any warping that may occur and it will retain that shape. Perhaps using glue on both sides of the building at the same time is what prevented the cardboard from warping in one direciton. If you are worried about warping, or it warps for you, try using a thicker corrigation of cardboard. Hope that helps :)
@thebigtricky91567 жыл бұрын
I wasin't actuly meant to insult or diminish this work in any way, Its inspirational to me, its looks awesome, Id like to imitate it. I found some carboard peices Id made maybe 7-8 years ago, and they were pretty fucked lol, but maybe cause i was shit at crafting and storage :P And yea, your points deffo helped. I didnt think of the cardboard being malleable, like any other wet material. Im always trying to avoid the cardboard getting wet. But it almost looks like your cardboard has been primed in some way, like it already had a lick of glue. I do also use a thick cardboard, with corrigated inside, but i make the levels when i stack it together opposite so that there grain supports each other. make more vids please, thx.
@Miscast7 жыл бұрын
Sorry my reply sounded rude, I didn't think you were trying to insult at all, I was trying to be thorough with my response because I'm learning as I go and trying to stay 1 step ahead of the the people watching my videos. When I make a tutorial I make the same thing several times using different techniques to try to find the most teachable method, so all my understanding of how things work is a currently on case by case basis, but the more I learn, the more I'll try to correct old techniques in future videos. There is plenty more cardboard stuff planned for in the future. You're right about the cardboard already having some glue, looking back at the video I forgot I had spread around some excess glue from when I was assembling it rather than wiping it clean. It was very thinly spread, and it could even be the glue that I'm using doesn't shrink as much, I'm not sure, but I don't think it had any impact. Only another 11 months until the next video ;)

So you can’t build this if you don’t have template; no measurements
@Miscast5 жыл бұрын
The template is available for free in the description, cut it out and paste it or trace it on your material and you're good to go :) If you don't have access to a printer at home, try your local library, school or job or ask a friend or family member. Using the template is really the easiest way to replicate this, that's why I invested so much time making it. And if you don't want to do any of those things it might just be fun to give it a go without measurements or templates and make it up as you go along. Hope that helps
