Pacha really is a saint. Out of everyone, he had the most reason that were understandable to kill Kuzco, and he could have easily done so with him as a Llama or let him die and nobody would have known or suspected anything, but he’s just not that kind of person, and continues to care for Kuzco even at his most difficult. You know this is something that I praise the movie more for, than in Raya and the Last Dragon. That might sound odd, but when you actually compare the two, you realize that both movies tackle the theme about earning trust. But Raya and the Last Dragon failed, as the character Namaari, not only did her actions hurt so many people, even physically, but the fact that they chose to cut out her apology in the end, feels very contrived, as well as the fact that her seemingly redeeming herself in the end doesn’t work. Whereas Kuzco, while his actions are going to hurt people, the fact that they don’t ever actually happen, kind of works more. Especially when you consider that even if he does make it back to the palace, it wouldn’t matter either way, as Yzma will be waiting there to kill him. So either way, he’s a dead man. It also helps the fact that the character Pacha, unlike Sisu, while he’s shown to be a “nice guy” who’s is overly trustworthy of everyone, is not a pushover. As when he tries to make a deal with Kuzco, he tells him, “Don’t shake, unless you mean it.”. And when Kuzco ends up breaking his promise, Pacha gives him what he deserves, even calling him out for what he is. There's also the scene when Kuzco ends up, running into him when he’s finally all alone, where Pacha talking crap about him to the other llamas. So while Kuzco‘s apology never actually comes out of him, it’s sort of he’s more justified as he’s finally excepted that he is indeed a horrible person, but Pacha’s willing to give him one more chance.

An example of exposition done right. Most movies would have the main lead, telling the people around them why they're this way halfway across the movie in order to create sympathy or make some flashback scene. But I feel like the scene where Yzma ponders what she's gonna do to Kuzco after firing her works perfectly, as the two are literally the same as established, only until she says that she raised him, leading to Kronk's hilarious line after.

Fun fact: In the early stages of production on The Emperor’s New Groove, it was originally gonna be a dramatic musical called Kingdom of the Sun. With almost a completely different plot. It was supposed to be loosely based on Mark Twain’s The Prince and the Pauper. The reason why it got canceled and reworked into the movie we know now is because Tom Schumacher (president of the Disney animation department) was afraid they were gonna make another underperforming film after Pocahontas and The Hunchback of Notre Dame underperformed in theaters

I remember the first time I saw this was with my mom and we were waiting at my orthodontic appointment for my braces that I was getting on and they were playing this in the waiting room. We died laughing and the staff saw how much we like the film they actually let us borrow the film that they had on stock for months . we had that movie for almost a year before we returned it because we just watched it so much. 😂❤

Fun Fact: People can talk when they get turned into animals. All the animals in the movie other than the ones who were transformed don't talk. Where did Kuzco's dad go? The fly that said help me was Kuzco's dad, a result of Yzma trying to get rid of him too.

According to an interview with Vanity Fair, he was coming up empty for ideas to use as a "squirrel voice" in the studio and went for a walk in the park to take a break.
