OMG U DID IT! As a person with immigrant parents, I could relate to Ember so much, with the pleasing my parents and putting their needs first. The movie also used dialogue such as “GO BACK TO FIRELAND” as a way to be like “go back to where you came from” which was pretty cool. Also funfact, one of Wade’s family members are non binary.

Also I agree with the immigration story. The reason it's been done before is because it's a common story amongst children of immigrants. And Disney and Pixar are trying to introduce more diverse stories. And with that they are obviously going to pull from their own stories as many of these were written and directed by children of immigrants.

Loved the reaction! Two things I loved when I watched this the first time, - The reason Ember cries at the family party isn't because she was so "moved" by Wade's words, but rather the realization at that point in time that they could never touch. Here was someone who made her feel seen and at that moment it wasn't possible. I mean really sad, but when you make that connection it's nice that its not just a normal his words were enchanting moment. - The moment they touch for the first, it seems like fun water smokey fireworks but I'm pretty sure its the eidenfrost effect. If you ever had dropped some droplets of water on a hot pan and the water dances instead of evaporating that's the eidenfrost effect. I thought this was cool because it really beautifully combined the art of Pixar, a wonderful story, and tried to make things work based on real science and not just "magic."

Sweet but sad little detail about the first vivisteria scene when Ember was a kid; when her dad is arguing with the employee we see other people joining in on yelling at him, but it turns to a dad and child, the dad is yelling immediately but the kid doesn’t know what’s happening so they look at their dad for guidance. They showed in just a split second that racism is taught

I think reading the reviews first affects the way you think about the movie because most of the time when you see a popular opinion you tend to agree with it (even tho you had a different opinion before or haven't even watched the movie) so when you see the movie you go in with the mindset that the movie is bad like "Oh a lot of people think this, that must mean there right" "yeah they say this movie is not that good so it must be true" (mostly trying to fit in and have the same opinion) you go into the movie only looking at the bad parts or trying to look only at the bad side of it , like "they dont like it, then I don't like it that much either" as i said before trying to fit in.

I thought this movie was honestly quite cute! The fact that Wade is such a huge crybaby is actually kind of refreshing and adorable, in my probably very unpopular opinion. (I'm just sick of the "too manly to cry" trope, so the pendulum swing is nice.) I do think that the whole allegory of comparing elements to races had to be heavy handed in order for to make the suspension of disbelief actually work. Because Asians and Black people can hold hands without extinguishing or evaporating, because humans aren't elements. But I still like it! Pixar's first romcom!

Completely agree at times that their romance can be very cheesy but it’s nice to see others opinions about ember and wades relationship. Personally, i quite enjoyed their love story because embers relationship with her father was lacking in communication (at least from my perspective) while wade was more outwardly spoken to her, telling her that she had a choice in running the shop or going out into the city, and giving her the advice she needs to hear. I liked seeing her heal her relationship with both the male figures in her life.

25:02 When a drop of water falls on a hot plate, the steam created by the contact makes the drop kinda "float" on the plate That's what happens when they touch, a small portion of water on Wade's body evaporates, creating a thin layer of vapor that prevents them from coming into direct contact

Fun fact: Ember switching colours when she’s stepping on the minerals is an imitation of fire being mixed with other minerals in real life like if you put gold in fire the fire will turn yellow. 👍👍👍

OMG I'M SO HAPPY YOU'RE DOING THIS ONE!!! (Also just to put this out there but for the pipes with dirt thing, if you follow the flow of water with Wade you'll notice that there wasn't any water in the pipes until Wade passed through them, which I interpreted to mean that the city did shut off water to firetown but the leak allowed water back into the pipes. I could be completely wrong tho) Also very tiny disagreement with the "recycled story" part - it does have similarities as you said but the cause for the similarities is different I think. Her reason for hiding what she wants to do and choosing (at first) to follow her father's wishes comes from a feeling very well known to children of immigrants (like myself) which she states very clearly in "the only way to repay a sacrifice that big is to sacrifice your life too". Other similar stories are mostly because the child doesn't want to do what their parents want them to do but the aspect of "paying back a sacrifice" is not there. I'm so sorry if I spoiled anyone, I just love this movie so much and I want to try and communicate my perspective, please don't be offended by anything I say >.

Fire sits on water all the time. If a ship or boat explodes at sea the fire will not just be put out immediately. The fire will sit on the surface of the water still burning as long as it's exposed to air. In fact if you're under the water and there's fire up above you will get burned if you swim up into it. Ember touching Wade just makes him really warm and bubbly and creates steam between the two of them. Same thing you get from a tea kettle. It's really not that complicated or unrealistic.

Personally I liked the characters a lot, and I enjoyed the story as well, but some of the world-building feels, at least to me, like it wasn't very well thought out. In some scenes Wade's clothes stay solid when he liquefies, yet in other scenes they liquefy with the rest of him. The Air people are clouds, which I get (Because otherwise how are you going to physically represent air?), but clouds are also mostly made up of water... Fire people poof out of existence when they die, that makes sense, but how do Water people like Wade's dad die? Did he just evaporate on a hot day? It's definitely a solid movie if you're looking for a nice, simple Rom-Com with some good characters, but if you start looking past the first layers it does also feel like it was a bit rushed, like they had a good idea of a basis for a movie, but not everything's been fully fleshed out. I imagine the pandemic has a lot to do with that.

OMG GURL! You never fail to make me laugh with your videos! But girl let’s be straight up honest….if you haven’t seen the reviews would you like the movie either way or not lol?
@RukiyaReacts Жыл бұрын
The reviews didn't affect my opinions on the movie. At the end of the video, I said that the critics were being dramatic. Elemental was a good watch, but it's not something I'd rewatch.
