Hi Chris. I bought this outfit for me and my wife to tour Europe in the summer. We already have other heavier Rukka but these jackets are half the weight and we really noticed the freedom of movement compared to our other outfits. We wanted highly vented Goretex outfits so that if it rained in the alps etc we only had to close the zips. We had one day of mizzly rain and then 25 to 40 degrees for two and a half weeks, all vents open we survived even when 40 in Italy. We’ve toured Wales and Ireland in all weather and have no complaints. As for warmth in UK autumn weather they’re great, just add a few layers or a puffa. I would highly recommend this outfit and we bought all our ghost armour from you.

I am glad that you like the suit, but I have to say that I would be amazed if the Ghost armour works; and that’s because it is so much smaller than the armour that is designed to go into the pockets. It might work in the shoulders and hips, but when sat on the bike you need to check that the armour covers the elbow joint and not just the forearm. Similarly, on the bike, you need to check that the armour is covering and protecting the knee, and not just the shin. CP.

You’re right Chris. We’ve used a mixture of Rukka armour from our other outfit and ghost to keep it comfortable. We toured on a GS adv and getting on and off is so different to the the heavier suit which we’re now wearing again with cooler weather. We’re in the northern hemisphere of the UK 😂

I saw this jacket a while ago and thought it maybe just what i was looking for, (one of the 95% GS riders) Its got a little more about it than a lot of Rukka gear ( not all black) a host of features and good ventilation. I couldnt believe it when i realised it had no armour. You obviously feel the same. Great video showing the suit and giving an idea of what itd cost once its got the protection it should have had in the first place.

Very nice cold/wet weather adv suit. A lot of people will want to go offroading in March/April and Oct/Nov in something like this, and will use separate armour. I know I do and I find irritating to have to pay for armour that will rot in a drawer.

Never given Rukka much of a look (yes, I know how good they are) as I'm just not a fan of the short jacket style, but this one is just what I'll be looking for come spring. Now have a short list of three, see you in march!

Rukka are really good .. I have a couple of jackets n trousers. An old Goretex drop liner outfit with the triangle Original Rukka badge in middle of back and a laminated Goretex Armaxxion outfit too. After years of riding I invested in some quality gear. I use the Storm wash kits and they're still great outfits.

I recently bought the Icebreaker top n bottoms in the motolegends one day sale. Very happy with the Icebreaker merino base layers. I've got the halvarssons light grey merino base layers too.. both great. Didn't get switched onto merino wool unti a few years ago.. brilliant stuff.

The mammoth in the room is poor abrasion resistance: its Cordura chassis gives a scarily low 0.29 seconds of abrasion resistance. Rukka has amazing armour (D3O XTR), but why can’t they improve the abrasion resistance of their products? Reinforcements give more protection to the Rimo-R’s elbows and knees (1.57 seconds is better but still disappointing). Fitting Rukka’s excellent XTR armour would help considerably, albeit it wouldn’t protect the buttocks, so it’s not a suit to wear while sliding on your derrière. I hope Rukka has big ears and hears this customer's need for high abrasion resistance. Others have shown some suits can far exceed AAA with comfy garments that don't feel like elephant hide.

I just pulled the trigger yesterday evening on a Alpinestars Boulder GTX at 940€. It should arrive in a fortnight. I really have been struggling to find something suitable, allowing to commute, withstand rain and still offer good ventilation capabilities and of course protection for a real 4 season experience for me doing some extensive riding 2-3 times a year in Central Europe and close to the Atlantic. Alternatives would have been the big 3‘s: Klim, Revit and Stadler. Klim sizing big with almost no availability here in Europe, high prices and questionable guarantee was eliminated. Revit did not made it for price and some quality related aspects I found while documenting extensively. Stadler, while not available directly here in France would have been the best possible option, but I could have easily get the Treasure Pro in Germany. Only downside: the price. It would have taken some more time to save some cash and get one in an uncertain future, where everything just takes the elevator. I eventually found the Alpinestars. Nice design, reputable brand, almost all features I’m looking for, good selection of materials. I don’t know this brand at all and couldn’t find but one video about it. No other information! I just hope that my instincts are ok😅 after several weeks of investigation. I also based my decision on market reality. Klim, Rukka, Stadler are not much known or used brands in my part of Europe. Not to speak of Hallvarsson or Scott. If there’s a problem it will be easier to get in touch with some „local“ customer service. Thank you Chris and Motolegends for your serious work and implication. Respect to you trying to find and explain best user profile for every item in this crowded industry of motor clothing! I will try to come back here once I made my first experiences with the jacket. This pant looks interesting by the way😊

Very interested Chris, I’ve the Arma-T outfit from 2015 and been looking at upgrading. This seems to cover off the issues I have with my current suit as the venting has been poor and only available in black!!; where would you say this new suit falls short of my current outfit if anywhere?
@stocks77652 жыл бұрын
Never thought I would say this, but as a Rukka fanboy I bought the Klim Carlsbad.I think it has better abrasion resistance, has armour and the venting tis better.The vents in the front of the Rukka are not efficient on a bike that has good wind protection (GS for example)the vents on the Klim Carlsbad are more to the outside where they catch the wind much better(yes I tested both jackets)One minus for Klim,the sleeves are way to long.

You were right regarding abrasion resistance. The Rukka’s main Cordura chassis provides just 0.29 seconds 😮 of abrasion resistance (according to the world’s most reputable independent testing, MotoCAP).

I was super keen to buy Klim Carlsbad, I went for a try and was so disappointed that it didn’t fit me at all, as you said arms are way too long, and my size is on the border of 50-52, both sizes looked weird on me and felt uncomfortable, trousers were way too bagy as well after that I went to the Rukka store to try this suit as it was my second option. This one fits me perfectly, and also I liked the softness of the fabric. I’ll buy this suit soon with all the armour.

At the waist back and front is an inside velcro patch. What is the purpose of this? At first I thought it was something to do with the braces, but I don’t think that is right.

Are there internal pockets in the trousers to add Rukka's knee and hip armour?

When you talk about top brands like Rukka and Klim perhaps you could pronounce them correctly..........They are pronounced Rooka and Climb.
@booshallmighty Жыл бұрын
You could spend your entire life (maybe you do), correcting people's pronouncements but you'd still be wrong. Most people have different ways of saying stuff. The whole of the South of England put the letter R in every word even if the word doesn't contain the letter R. Why do you let such things bother you?
@sasha-fe2bl9 ай бұрын
@@booshallmightybecause as a finn it's objectively wrong and so is OP. it's ru-ka with a small pause in between, the R is rolled and the U is similar to the French O like in oui or indeed the oo in look or rook.
