I love your videos. They are very useful and complete. Great job. Just an amusing comment: Europe can be in both columns at the same time. Europe was a princess of Tyre who crossed the Mediterranean on Zeus transformed into a bull.

When I was in Zaporizhia, I bought a book on the Ukrainian language “Українська мова для іноземців крок за кроком.» It was one of the most expensive books in the bookstore. The book is excellent and thorough, taught by native Ukrainian linguists for foreigners. The only weakness is they use Ukrainian to teach Ukrainian. If I can make it through the book along with Nika’s teaching, my Ukrainian should be pretty good.

Hi, thanks for a great video. May I ask is "чемпіон" animate please? I can't find it in your list. It was the only one that threw me and just my luck ))) it seems to be the only one missing from your list.
@VERBA_SCHOOL
@VERBA_SCHOOL 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, чемпіон is animate, because it denotes a person (or sometimes animals, f. e. dogs in competitions)

Hi Nika. Another question. Sorry to be a pest. The 3 names for genders, чоловічий, жіночий, середній. The first 2 end with ий while the 3rd ends with ій. Is there a reason or a pattern for using и or і? Or is it just that I can't pick up the different sounds at the ends of these words? Ahhh hang on. is it that after ч ж ш щ х (and maybe others) and stuff like those letters you can't have і but must use и? Sorry for this "rough" explanation
@VERBA_SCHOOL
@VERBA_SCHOOL 2 жыл бұрын
Yes-yes, in Ukrainian for adjectives we have two variants of stem: soft and hard. Середній is a soft stem adjective, and чоловічий та жіночий - hard stem. You define it from Nominative masculine form of the adjective that is given in dictionary. F. E. After - н it can ve both - ій (середній, синій) - soft stem and - ий (срібний, величезний)- hard stem.
