I think he did it because going after John later gives Ross two front page headlines instead of one, back when that really meant something, earning him more notoriety which helps him cement his political position and power. Correction Lore about checkpoints in GtA, TLAD was the first to have checkpoints. TBOGT was the first one to let you replay missions and even introduced bronze, silver, and gold medals if you completed certain criteria.

I dug the fake-out endings for the same reason, but the fact that he didn't mentioned it think he didn't do the final ending, which after taking over the game as the son is to avenge. The chase through the multiple locations kind of makes a victory-lap tour reminder of where the story has gone, and finally getting revenge felt much better than I would have thought on paper. Love it when games have story quests that don't show up on the menu objectives. Skyrim had a few as well.

The epilogue was not "Depressing" or "Boring" for John. He was at peace and the happiest probably in his life during those final missions.

I felt really bad for the guy with the letter. I forget the specifics of the quest because it's been a while, but after a few quests you find him dead somewhere in the desert. That dude got a raw deal. I was genuinely sad seeing that.

The reason why RDR was never ported was an assumption at that time where PC was going away. At that time PC had slid to account for around twenty percent of all game sales, console dominated close to 80% of the game market, and it was a trend that would continue for a few years. Yeah, so basically RSG was publically writing off the PC market. Of course from a PC gamer's point of view the reason for those lost sales is that companies had stopped making AAA PC games. Death of the PC market was a self fulfilling prophecy born out of the ease involved in DRMing console products and a mistaken belief that piracy was stealing sales. Look back at 2010 (and ever since) everything AAA sold for the PC market was a port. Usually a really bad, lazy, and often unplayable port. It really gutted the player base where people just gave up on the platform until some small aspiring game companies slid into that abandoned AAA niche. In the long term AAA's abandonment of the PC market was a shot to the foot for that industry as the concurrent rise of mobile gaming stripped away the most casual element of the console market. Now the split of sales is ~30% PC, 50% mobile, and that has left 20% for dedicated AAA console developers to fight over. The response from AAA has been to cut costs and wait for the markets to improve... this is why EA is so eager to shut down studios that suffer even the slightest misstep, is quick cancel projects that don't look to produce FIFA scale profits, not to mention their embrace of predatory tactics like DLC made from content removed from a launch product and aggressive micro-transactions.

Probably gonna follow GTA V model of being on console for 12-18 months before they port it over to PC. You have to remember that this game came out in 2010. The PC market was not the same back then. Think that by the time Steam became a viable avenue for distribution of PC ports, to many years have past for them to consider investing resources on porting it.

It wasn't about money when it comes to porting to PC. It was Microsoft or Sony (or both) buying the rights to a console only game. Something Rockstar fought against with GTA V.

The ps3 version was awful lore. The xbox 360 version was better and is now enhanced to 4k on the xbox one x. Went through it again. Brilliant game
