Lore your slamming these out left and right recently it’s great

I only started playing GTAV less than a year ago (and Online only during lockdown), never having been near the franchise before, only seeing gameplay via FailRace and Soundhead Entertainment on KZbin. But I loved it from the moment I started playing. The acting from the 3 main characters and the writing had me believing they were recurring characters from the previous games in how well cleaned out they were. The missions were all fun, although some were infuriating first time around, especially when you need to drive, chase another car and try to aim and shoot at the same time! My favourite mechanic (effect?) was when you switch into a character and the camera goes into the clouds and descends on them, as though you’re god taking possession of their bodies and you always catch them just going about their normal lives (and Michael occasionally has to make excuses to his wife so he can leave for you to control him). Also that the game isn’t just mission after mission, you can roam the map as much as you want in between and do the missions as and when you please, plus the side characters you meet (like the old souvenir collectors) are great. I do agree that with the money GTAV and Online have and do make, there’s no incentive for there to be a GTAVI anytime soon. I have more issues with Online, although I find that very enjoyable for the most part as I play in solo public lobbies as much as I can to avoid the griefers etc. It’s a massive grind to just be able to afford things especially early on but you can’t say there isn’t enough you can do!

Damn lore, you ninja'd this rumination! Being able to mess around and go to the middle of nowhere in GTA5 and being able to switch to another character so I don't have to trek back to the city myself was big.

I believe the reason why you dislike the parody was the intended goal rockstar had. It's not funny anymore, it's sad and unfortunately true.

A goodfellas analogy, Trevor is tommy, Michael is jimmy, Franklin is Henry. I’m not considering the ending just the characters.

I think this game does so much right. Great characters and worldbuilding. The plot is actually pretty solid. A lot of good story/gameplay integration. Franklin's improvements in becoming a "better crook" was actually really fun to see. And it makes sense as Michael and Trevor kinda take him under their wing. The main trio are essentially criminals, but they are the good guys compared to the horrible organizations (FIB, IAA, Weston Corporation). And there is a sort of irony in the fact the trio essentially become proxies for Haines in the FIbs fued with the IAA for funding. Haines is a piece of trash but he does get decent characterization towards the later parts of the MSQ. I don't find all the parody funny in this game, but there are a some moments that give me a really good chuckle (I do like crude humor from time to time). At times i almost feel bad for laughing at some scenes, specifically involving wade, floyd, and trevor. The stranger and freaks missions do also give me a decent laugh if i'm being honest. My most controversial opinion about this game is that i really like that you can "deal" with a lot of the people who try to screw you over. Both in the MSQ and the side stories. You have the choice to be a pacifist, and in the end the missions are designed on that "all roads lead to Rome" even from a narrative perspective. Overall i think you hit the nail on the head with a lot of the aspects of this game. The gameplay is a grand slam, and I think they do a lot of good character development which makes most of the NPCs and the main trio very interesting Looking forward to the review under the new system. Cheers!

I remembered, Stretch, but that's mainly because I went out of my way to call him and actually found some hidden dialogue in doing so. Had I not done that, I likely would've forgotten about him apart from the fact that he set you up near the beginning of the game.

This is a great fun game but I never found the story to have depth. It comes off a lot as Wannabe Tarentino. I can't forgive the murder of a more interesting character in Johnny Klebitz for shock value and There is none of the emotional weight and Pathos of Niko Bellic in IV, for example, with characters coming off as dull (Franklin), pathetic (Michael) or comic book (trevor) though I appreciate that in this game the characters actions sort of line up with the gameplay. It was kind of ridiculous in IV to have Niko lament his fate and then proceed on rampages. That being said, V is still great. If Red Dead and IV are a perfectly cooked steaks, V is a massive fast food Burger meal, something I can enjoy equally as much.

Man I would love to hear how you'd contrast the boss from the Saints Row series with the protagonists from the GTA series. I've always wondered how far the Boss could go in the GTA World, and what their role would be and if they'd thrive, or die. I know you'd have some very intriguing thoughts about it.

I think it depends on which Protagonist we're talking about. They were basically potrayed as three seperate character through the four games.

Gameplay issues? Walking and not being able to turn on the spot. Fist fighting. Jesus fuck.... Cops and them being psychic. Guns and not being able to shoot qhere you point. First person and not being the same speed or motions as third. Also the various things they are... Heists being extremely scripted. You know that moment of ugh, this mission... Yeah thats walking for me.

Interesting I noticed too that the NPCs weren't really "there," compared to say GTAIV...it may have seemed annoying having to "hang out" with Roman and Brucie and the Rastafarian, but they did feel more like actual characters than most of the people outside the main 3 here. Also, that the satire is...well I would maybe just after so many hundreds of hours of gameplay it's getting a bit tiresome?

While I agree with your analysis of the torture scene, I think the comparison to No Russian only really works if both scenes are taken as only existing within their texts. While a lot of the satire in GTA is on the nose, the US Government has commited extra-judicial murders and torture at black sites for many years, and I think the GTA V torture scene was an attempt to present that as horrible and a critique of America being seen as a virtuous, world police type of nation. The violence in No Russian to me comes off as an attempt at edgy, subversive content that has no wider statement outside of moving the narrative forward while also getting a bunch of press coverage through a 'shocking scene'. I still fail to understand what the point of No Russian was outside of being edgy for edgy's sake. The violence to me made no interesting commentary on wider societal issues, except maybe a vague gesture toward terrorism being bad, which isn't a very controversial statement to many in the US. The rumination itself is fantastic, I love your videos!

Tanisha. Wow. What an absolute waste of voice acting talent. I despised her as a character from the very first line. Nothing to do with the voice acting itself, but her dialogue, her attitude and behaviour, and her very role in the story were all so very clear. And I wanted absolutely none of it. Good god, Franklin, what were you thinking to begin with?
@becuzMDsaidineededpersonality3 жыл бұрын
She had a brother who died due to gang violence. This was the reason for their break-up and we see in her actions and emails these two send each other throughout the game that she kinda, sorta blames Franklin for what happened. And like Franklin we see that she faces a lot of the "you left your homies" bullshit from people on her LifeInvader phase. I feel like a lot of people misunderstood her character and I took her attitude as being more angry with Franklin continuing to make the same stupid choices over and over or not wanting to go and help Lamar which we see is a parallel to the point where we were seeing Franklin beginning to turn into the antagonists of the game...people who don't care about anyone but themselves and cut out people through force, killing them or isolatation when they run out of usefulness. Franklin going to save Lamar and later Lamar helping Franklin is a show of the opposite of this. Unlike Stretch we see them showing support for each other and lending helping hands...

I had an interesting thought on that "that one mission" concept. As I was thinking about which missions annoyed me in GTA 5, I noticed what many of them had in common. It would be situations where I'd figure out what would happen, but my character wouldn't. As an example, they are walking into an obvious trap, but do not see the blatant signs. So it feels like I have to suffer for my character's stupidity. In GTA 5 I'd name Micheal following Trevor to North Yankton. Everyone can see how this would end. But I still have to play that annoying part where Frankling is tracking down Micheal. Maybe that's part of playing a character, not your character, but it is annoying. Especially if they give you some illusion of choice, which ultimately amounts to nothing because the big decisions are already written in the script. That annoyed me in Bioshock Infinite as well; don't let me make decisions as the character, and then have the script say "character does this", disregarding player input completely.

I honestly think GTA 5 is the worst GTA game. It had a bad story, the switching wasn’t used very well, it was bloated with all the pointless weapons, pointless attachments, non existent stealth, gunplay was underwhelming, physics were dumbed down the list just goes on.

4 is objectively better. 5 is entirely "that" mission.
