I used to do interval training at my local park, 1 minute run, 1 minute walk, repeat for the 7km lap through the woods and wetlands. Then I swapped running for calisthenics and dumbbells. After about a year I decided to go back to the park and do a lap. Despite next to no aerobic exercise for a year I smashed my record. I went back a week later to see if it was maybe just because I was better rested than when I was running regularly and beat it by even more. That was when I officially gave up on running. I got better at it by not doing it.

Yup, the cold and wet feel surprisingly good when your metabolism is amped up and you're wearing good layers. It's easy to overdress actually. Just a bit chilly at the beginning, then it's nice until you get to the super cold temps. Hard to breath then but a merino wool buff handles that. Though then your breath will freeze on your eyelashes, kinda tricky in the deep cold.

Sweating definetely works well, we need to engade our lymphatic system through movement otherwise it will not clear by itself. Running is great but propper shoes are crucial, I have been running for 14 year now and since i discovered Cloud shoes couple years ago i buy only those - hence i recommend. I do a lot of milage and these are great (though i wear out 3 pairs a year). Try Cloudflow, they are natural feel, SUPER lighweight and very comfortable. I never get any knee pain and joint pain -this is all rubbish imo. We were build to run but best to run in trail if possible (but in the winter i run only on pavements and it is still fine). You are doing the best way - starting slow, but warning - it is addictive :). Enjoy your new challenges! Oh, and it helps LOADS with digestion as it should.

"...you gotta sweat..."! Start playing some basketball in a gym once it gets cold....fun and you'll sweat like a pig. The heel strike is definitely not the best. The zero drop folks run with a toe/forefoot strike. But, you could also just find some more difficult trails with elevation changes and hike at a faster pace. It's way more fun that just running mindlessly through the streets.

Humans are built to run, daily. We are the most efficient running machines in the animal world, except for perhaps ostriches. Injury-from-running-stories fail to point out that the injured are invariably overweight sloths, whose sole cardio has consisted of walking to the toilet between pizzas, for the last 2-decades. Moving blood around the circulatory system at 3x normal speed (as running does) is essential for numerous health requirements. I've done this weekly since 2009.
@DharmadusАй бұрын
Humans are certainly very capable distance runners, but certain breeds of dogs in cold climates would demolish humans any day. Also, we wouldn't stand a chance against horses

Robert Morse also says teeth problems are related to lymph and sweat and I noticed fruitarian athletes have great teeth. Running barefoot helps us run more naturally where the front of the foot touches the ground slighty before the ankles to dampen the impact. It also makes you run/walk with more Awareness so its a great way to retrain our feet. The Root & Crown are linked. Well done ☀️

If your feet have arches, you need a running shoe specifically to match. The Asics Gel-Nimbus series is perfect for high arch feet. It totally changed the game for me when I had my feet electronically measured and the metrics showed I was in the top tier for high arch. Most shoes are for people with flat feet. My big ah ha moment. Socks are also important. They can make or break everything. Use nylon based ones and you won't get blisters.
