I have the ES1 and ES4. Main change is the heel channel, more stable but way less bounce as you turn over. Still love the shoe, but agree it's less fun now

I agree with you 100% on the Speed line. Versions 1 & 2 were the GOAT, best shoes I've ever run in. Version 3 was a completely different and blah shoe. Version 4 a little better, but nowhere near as good as the first 2. If Saucony pulled out the molds for versions 1 and 2 and produced those again, I guarantee they could sell out as many as they could produce.

I loved the Endorphin speed 1 and 2, and still really liked the 3s, but the 4 just doesn't work for me, the fit isn't as good and the ride feels weird to me. Been looking for something to replace them in my lineup now after using the speeds for years.

Man i wanna know why they're so cheap! That $160 price tag is wild. ~$20 more than the everyday trainers like the Novablast 4's. I just bought the Zoomfly 6's & they feel so good! The AF3's are my go to race day shoes and i usually use the Mizuno Neo Vista's & Superblast 2's for training. & the Zoomfly's allow me to keep the AF3's on the shelf until race day but they would make a good race day shoe too.

I guess shoe preference is very individual but I absolutely love my Endorphin Speed 3s - I've done 500 miles in these now including a marathon. I intend to get the V4s in the New Year.

I find it interesting your Speed 4’s came in at 262g in a UK 9.5. Mine came in at 261g for one foot and 259 for the other, despite me getting a UK 10 🤷‍♂️

Hi Loyd, Agree with you re. Saucony speed, pro v1 and 2. V3 speeds weren’t great but I like the pro 3’s. V4 speed and pro better than 3 but not as good as V1 and 2. This aside I ran a 5k pb in my old pro 3’s a few weeks back even with the toes out and the carbon plate exposed on the underside toes!😅

I prefer the ES3 to the ES2. I've only done 70 miles in my ES2 and beat that in a couple of weeks when I got the ES3, a much more versatile and comfortable shoe. There's a bit of a cult around the ES1 and ES2, but overall most people will prefer the ES3 or ES4.

I’m not sure that’s right there? A cult around the ES1 and ES2? The original ES put Saucony back on the running shoe map! I was managing a running shop when original shoe was launched and I couldn’t sell them quick enough. Saucony had made some bad design choices and were really struggling at the time, to the point where they could have gone bankrupt! The ES1 saved the company and it was their biggest selling shoe of all time. The ES1 and ES2 weren’t as stable so maybe that’s why you didn’t enjoy them as much? 🤔

@@Run4Adventure Cult was probably the wrong word to use. There are always a few comments from people saying they love the ES1 or ES2 but didn't like the ES3, so I wanted to provide some balance. Overall there are far more positive reviews about the ES3 than negative ones. Personally, I prefer the ES3, and I know many other runners who also love the ES3; it has a much broader appeal as the ES2 is a little unstable and has a racier feel. As always, people will have preferences based on their foot shape and running style, as well as what they want to use the shoe for.

Picked up the esp2 on holidays in France for €90 . Wish I had bought 2 pairs. Probably my favourite shoe ever. Fast, light, responsive and fun. Have the esp3 a good while and like it too but just use for long runs. Don't find it great for speedwork but have nearly 500 miles on it now and it's on the way out but still going.

Hi Loyd - I have an unrelated question I hope you could help with! Which quiver do you use which fits your harrier poles? I have harrier poles but I remember you mentioning in a video that they don't fit in the Salomon quiver! What would you suggest?

I use a Salomon quiver but I do struggle sometimes. I’ve just got the new Harrier carbon pole which have been stripped back, thinner poles and smaller mud baskets on the end and they fit in much better 👍 I’ve just reviewed the poles on the channel 🙂

They are both good shoe options! I’d probably go for the Rebel V4 because they don’t have a carbon plate in them. I’m not a fan of doing lots of training with a stiff, carbon plate in my shoes. I like to have that kind of technology on race day but not when I’m training 👍

After the Speed 2, Saucony is a waste of money. The Speed 3 was really bad! I have no intentions of ever using Saucony again! Changing a top shoe so much it went from a B+ to a D.

I have both and I definitely prefer the zf6! SB2 foam is just way too firm for me, whereas the dual foam setup of the zf6 just hits the sweetspot of being not too soft and not too firm and the ride is also much more fun and versatile. Hope that helps.
