Longevity is more important than the goals for me. I think those who achieve great things in the short term and hit it really hard might have slightly different motives than those who just love running fullstop. I think once they lose the desire to win or to train to being highly competitive the love goes or motivation goes. For me getting faster and setting times is secondary. Whilst it's fun and adds something different and great to work towards goals I often take a step back when I get too serious and remind myself why I run and what it does for me outside of the goals. Top video. Thanks for your insights. I can relate to a lot in that 👍

Appreciate you sharing this and so true! The joy of just jogging and staying fit is a blessing in and of itself even if we can't race quite as fast as we used to. I think your perspective is spot on. Thanks for your support

I'll be increasing my speed workouts with a focus on 1 mile to 10k races in the next few months. Got my 2:57:46 at CIM so now I'm going to increase the speed! Thanks as always for sharing your knowledge and expertise. You are making an impact for so many of us and it is not going unappreciated!
@rundreamachieveАй бұрын
Outstanding work dropping that time. 2.57.46 on a couple like CIM is no joke. VERy well done! Congrats and thanks a ton for the kind words.

I agree that it is better to fail than not try. You got very introspective on this video and that humility is refreshing. So many running “influencers” talk about how awesome they are. Be kind to yourself and you are legendary.

I appreciate that! Thanks for the support Thomas. Wishing you and yours the best this holiday season and into 2025

@ maybe someone will get her knee looked at, or at least be a great support crew leader so I can go on long runs and races. And she’s not grossed by a sweaty hug

Thank you for continuing to create quality content. It has significantly helped me improve, especially in longer races. I wanted to ask if you have any suggestions for addressing an overstride. I hadn’t thought much of it because I’m still getting faster and haven’t experienced injuries. However, I’ve noticed that sprinting is quite challenging for me, and my pace for longer distances isn’t much slower than my pace for shorter races, despite incorporating plenty of speed work. For instance, I recently ran a 51:18 for ten miles, but I can only manage a 4:32 for the 1600. I would appreciate any advice you have as I'm part of a Division 1 team and have track season coming up.
@rundreamachieveАй бұрын
Awesome job dropping that 51:18 10-miler and 4:32, 1600m times. NOT easy performances to attain at all. I think implementing a strength and conditioning routine into your training plan once a week could potentially improve any biomechanical issues you may be having with your stride. Keep up the superior work, not many runners can run as fast as you have JR

Thanks for the support mom, appreciate you. Retired from racing, not from running. Still love staying active but had as my goal to train for a year and even if I would have earned the qualifier and been able to compete next year at the NYC marathon, I still would have called it a day then. Have nothing to prove to anyone. So, just finishing up racing a year earlier:)

Culturally here we do twice in a week but it depends how you respond to that stress and how you can recover from. At the end it comes to the capability and goal

Hello Nathan I am thinking about doing just two threshold runs a week instead of a vo2 Max workouts or swap one for a half marathon run at a fast pace for succeeding as a middle to long distance runner?
@rundreamachieveАй бұрын
That could work as well. You are doing awesome Luke. Keep up the great work. 2025 is going to be an awesome year for you

Not cool, I hope you get the treatment you need going into the new year and can help to get you to where you can. Hang in there and thanks for your support. 2025 is going to be a great year ahead for you.

Hey coach, I have an athletic background and started running about 2 months ago. I have progressed quickly and even broke 20 minutes in my local 5k here in North Florida in my first ever race. I want to get into marathon running and the race that I am eying is in the beginning of November 2025. What would you suggest me to be doing to maximize my fitness level between now and starting a 6 month build in May? Thanks in advance.
@rundreamachieveАй бұрын
Start a strength and conditioning program. No more than once per week but I think this will help to improve any muscle imbalances you may have and stay committed to this routine throughout your training block until 3 weeks out from your goal race to ensure you recover. Keep up the superior work, running sub 20 minutes for 5k is NOT easy and many runners would love to have a PR that fast. VERY well done. Keep me posted on your progress leading into your May 2025 race. You have some big PRs headed your way.

You running 2:59 there last year clearly shows you are capable of a 2:48 on a course like Chicago. Yes, absolutely!
