I admit, that Genie was VERY thorough in covering his bases in keeping Runesmith trapped! He did his damndest in covering his bases.

His only mistake was not utilizing any autonomous defenses to prevent outside interference. Without such outside help, he had no chance. Actually most of this would have been avoided by using True Polymorph to permanently change him into a form which lacks intelligence and physical ability but still has limbs and then using Imprisonment to prevent anyone from ever finding him. He would truly be lost for eternity.

The rope of entanglement sounds so dang useful. Fighting a giant bird? Chuck the world's largest ball of twine at it via a catapult while an illusionist makes the activation word go off from the ground. Need to climb out of a pit while the villain monologues?
