Definitely keep your eyes open for 5os +3fistofheavens +3conviction +3redemption scepters, or comparable skills. Since FCR isn't so important for FoHdins, hoto isnt the Boss option - you can make CtA or even budget Honor

5OS divine scepter / war scepters (or even caduceus) with conviction and fist of the heavens are already really valuable for hybrid FoH - you roll CTA in it and then rock grief / exile on off-hand for smite. This way you don't have to put points into conviction OR just put 5x 5/5 lightning facets in them for maxing lightning dmg of FoH

@The CTA in Caduceus w/ +3 FotH +3 Conviction; using conviction results in ~30% increase in STDPS with casting FotH, however, drops ~20% dps with Holy Bolt, and remember, Holy Bolt is more dps than FotH vs low density, plus we have the added burden of swapping on another aura (conviction) during play. The FotH bolts are about the same DPS so area clear should be similar, but we also lose out on an FCR breakpoint, and resistances (harder to max out). Unless this is end game gearing for hardcore, I find it hard to justify the CTA for battle orders when we stand to lose all of these other benefits vs. using Heart of the Oak. It's.. close, and 5os is easier to get theoretically, but, I just don't see it yet. EDIT: forgot initially that we use smite for bossing. I've been testing both pure and hybrid and mixed it with holy bolt. Apologies if that confused you. Corrected to say low density above.

Flickering flame is also going to be great for Fireclaw druids, look for those +3 Fire claw pelts, any + to other good skills will increase value as well ofc. I also think the best Obsession bases are going to be lightening. Death's Fathom will still be king for all cold, and if you can spare the FCR, Phoenix is amazing for fire. However, a +3Light, Chain Light, or Nova with +1/2/3 to Light Mastery? It may be pretty good.

I'm surprised that you left out the Eth cryptical/Conquest swords. These are the best base for the act 5 mercenary's 3 and 4 OS runewords. Cresent Moon, Oath, Lawbringer, Voice of Reason are all viable in the act 5 merc - BUT these can only be put into swords that can ONLY be wielded with 1 hand - hence these item(s) value.

Pretty good info but I feel like u missed a lot :D kinda too many bases to cover in 1 vid i think but some that came to my mind was claw bases, 5soc 15ed berserk axe for beast for example, 6soc eth thundermaul and warpike for botd, and then theres the mythical +holy shield skill scepter and/or +foh scepter, also with 2.4 auradins might become really meta so good 3soc pala shields might become rly high demand/expensive since its way harder to get a 15ed 3soc ST over a 4soc cus u cant larzuk for 3soc, Theres quite a few high value bow bases to look for aswell :P list is rly rly long, probly too long for 1 vid :D but good vid still =)

Insight/Obsession Main-hand, Infinity merc, swap to Memory with 16 points in TK is going to be a real solid build especially for the mana hungry skills (Nova mostly). Gnarled, Battle, Cedar, Gothic, and Elder Staves as well as Shillelagh will only roll 4os max so if you find a good base just larz it.

Feel like not mentioning base blockchance of pala shields is a big issue - Sacred Targe has best blockchance and should fetch u the most. I found 45@ ST as D2R launched, got offered anything from Vex's all the way til Lo.. just for the base alone. i think flickeing flame is really really good +3 fire and -15%fire res is alot on a fire build. also 5%max fire res is really good, alot of the stuff does fire damage and the aura is like 100% fire res ? maybe ill use that on hydra sorc not sure on that 6socketed staff runeword, zod+ist and a 6sock staff ? sure if u get insane base skills on that its mybe a tiny bit better. but like u can get a occulis for basicly nothing put a ist int it that alone is 80%mf and even have +1 more to allskills and just double spirit costs even less, also alot of ppl (specially playing lightning or nova) gonna play es based so the life is useless. weaken is amost useless too u can just give ur merc a waken proc. idk why i would use this, the only real benefit is u dont need that much str for stormshield or spirit monarch. but yeah if u get some insane shit like +3 blizzard +3iceblast +1 energy shield or somehting its really good yea. but even than it will cost alot and only be a tiny bit better. id rather find a 5 socket +1-3 energy shield +1-3shiver amor for cta swap

Another very important mention about bases that phil i think may have purposefully left out or not, always look for bases in particular that do not have sockets at all. These can be rolled for sockets in the cube as long as they dont have the superior/low-quality trait on them. Its really worth while if you are having a hard time finding the certain socket amount, for example, if i find an ethereal thresher(max 5)/giant thresher(max 6), etc., with no sockets, i can then attempt to roll 4 sockets for an ifinity/insight base, if it rolls over and gets 5 then im still winning because i now have the option to make an obedience as well. There's a lot to cube recipes that are a lot of time overlooked that will help you tremendously in early ladder. Good luck and keep SLAYIN'

For the pole arms the man catcher is better, but only if you don't combo with fortitude. The % damage increase is too massive to a CV. Now if you don't run fortitude than sure run man catcher.

Insight runeword is available in bows now too. Act 1 merc with mana regen aura is great, even hell viable with a crusader or hydra bow.

6OS +3 frozen orb + 3firewall +3 fire mastery will be the best base, you could drop firewall for Energy Sheild. Dual specing fire/cold together. No casting delay means you can melt crowds. Post firewall up infront of you and spray orbs muahahahha

@@mrquickey3731 Synergy bonus mostly. SF is going to help with mana, but a 100% flat increase to damage makes Nova competitive with Light but has no limit on the number of targets hit. 2-3tapping cows is real with some sets.

There are a lot of things you left out. 1) High @res sacred targe/rondache, and eth vortex are the only shields that maintain high value. 2) Obsession staves are much better with nova/lightning/chain lightning/lightning mastery/energy shield/warmth than the fire skills. 3) 4os staves with +3 energy shield and any of the following frozen armor/shiver armor/enchant/thunderstorn will be worth SEVERAL high runes. 4) +3 bow skills Grand matron bows increased their stock for both bowazon and a1 merc 5) 5os scepters with fohdin skills are bis for what is certain to be the most popular build in season 1.

Yo Phil, keep your eyes out for a 4os and 5os staves as well. People are sleeping on the fact that Obsession lets you run less strength, but that means you wont have enough for CTA/Monarch so having a Staff for a pre-buff is going to be Go-To for Obsession users; running ES you can get a +3 ES Memory staff, or just run the CTA in a 5os Staff with other buffs. Also I have been doing some number crunching and for the 105FCR Nova build, you can run an Insight Staff on the sorc with +3 nova/+3LM and then just use a standard Infinity on your merc; its competitive in DPS with the handful of endgame builds and you wont have to blow all those HRs on an Infinity Trident that only your sorc can run to get both Conv and Medi. Edit: Gnarled, Battle, Cedar, Gothic, and Elder Staves as well as Shillelagh will only roll 4os max, so if you find good skills on a white base they are great candidates for Insight or Memory. War, Rune and Archon Staves are the only ones that can roll 6os (starting at mlvl 26), so keep you eyes open for them for Obsession; and it will be 100% worth a Larz quest for a good base given how rare they are.

@@zanido9073 i built out the sets and ran it on cows (+50 LR) and its just competitive with the other high end sets; You have to spend so much gear for FCR and the pole has no + skills. The only place the infinity pulls ahead is damaging broken immunes but thats a big investment for it. Top dps goes to 3/3 Obsession+Enigma, followed by the CM/Spirit with a Nova Ormus, followed by the 200fcr set. If you want medi and conv you can run a 3/3 insight on your character and just the standard merc infinity pole and it ties the equipped infinity set (save on broken immunes).

I hope they roll these new runewords into non-ladder at the end of the season and keep adding new runewords each ladder reset. This would be a great way to keep it fresh and encourage ladder play without punishing non-ladder players (they get the runewords eventually, just takes a few months of waiting). Not all of us want to start from scratch each ladder hoping to find a Zod/Ber rune with our limited playtime before the ladder ends.

in classic there were "ladder only" runwords like DREAM. you could make them in ladder, but when the ladder was over your character would convert to nonladder/ you would have the item/runeword of dream, but you could not re-create it. the whole point of ladder is having the reset

Question about Treachery RW. Since the Fade is cast by chance of being hit does the high defences elite armour's take longer to proc or does it not matter? I am sitting on a 750def eth 3os scared armour. Wanna make a treachery for my merc.

You go to somewhere like river of flame and stand in fire until it procs. Get all the defense you can.

lol i still watch all these d2 vids but sadly after all this wait and incompetence from blizz, I honestly think I'm not even gonna play it now when (if) it finally comes out None of my friends care to play anymore, so it's kinda stuffed it for me big time :( The 2 week delay of ladder after 2.4's launch is a dumb tier idea as well. 2 weeks to give people practise for levelling builds for a ladder on a fresh new patch. Would be way more fun letting everyone have a fresh start together. I also think that is 2 weeks that will burn out playability for a fair few people. But most importantly, I see the 2 week delay as their continued incompetence and lies. I honestly don't think the season will be launched, I think they'll delay it again & use the same excuse that they want to make sure there aren't any bugs & it'll be like the WC3 remake where the promised ladder just never came out

I think people choose to roll cta in a crystal sword over a flail for the str only requirement, where as flail has 35 dex req. Informative video nice work!
