@@stephenscullion262 what do you do at the start of an easy run. I know you do the above for intense workouts. But what about easy days? I ask because when I get outta bed for a morning run I go straight out the door, my whole body is stiff and I move like Frankenstein for about half a mile. Takes about 1-2 miles until I can reach cruising altitude :) and I don't mean a solid tempo or threshold pace. I mean a pace that would be my comfortable loose run if I left my run until a few hours after I woke up. Do you jog a bit, stretch a bit, then resume running. I ask because I'm not convinced stretching when I've just opened my eyes is a much better plan?

Hi Stephen, Thank you so much for the great video. I watched it right before going for my first interval session in quite a few months, and it helped me soo much! Even just watching you helped me with visualization during the session. Hope my heartfelt regards reach you!

None of my training plans that I've purchased from reputable coaches include warm ups of this length. All of them are just 10 min of light jog and then get into it. I always felt I need far longer than just 10 min very easy run; I need around 20 to 30 min of easy run at the very least. Now I'm learning from you, Stephen, that I was at least partly right but that I also need to do more during the warm up. I guess that ups my training time which can be a challenging thing for a non-competition runner who simply wants to run faster 10ks and then 3:30 marathons. I need to review my training plans/sessions and include this warm up at the very least for the speed/interval sessions.

Oops... I thought my 5 minutes of dynamic warm up and 10 minutes of jogging was all the warm up I needed for "speed" work... thanks for the info!

Hey Stephen. Could you tell me if its important to do a warm up run before a slow long run or would you just do some activity work only. My easy slow pace is 6.30/km. Thanks

@nickmoore5105 Жыл бұрын
I can’t answer for Stephen but in general no warmup run is needed before an easy long run. But start a little under your target pace use the first mile to ease into it.

I would highly suggest to at least activate your joints with rotating movements. This not mentioned but helps a lot since joints are the ones that might wear irreparably if not taken care properly

Of course my knee is sore, at the beginning of a race week 😢. I just plan on slowing down (aka walking instead of running workouts) and CBD cream to make sure I get to the starting line healthy.

Good luck in your race! The hay is in the barn, you can't get any fitter this week, etc etc. Rest that knee and kill it on race day!
