I completed my own first marathon this past summer, and am in the thick of training for my second at the moment. All I can say, is that I wouldn't be able to tell you, with full confidence, that running a marathon changed my life. However, I COULD tell you with full confidence that training for a marathon changed my life. It taught me so much about what my body can do, what I can do when I put my mind to it, and about what running means to me. The marathon itself was ultimately a celebration of that. I don't know where I'd be today if I hadn't started that first training block, and for that, I'm incredibly grateful to my past self. I can't wait to see where the second takes me. Nonetheless, congratulations and fantastic job on the video!

This was an amazing run - to have the strength to lift that rock and then follow it up with a full marathon (in just over 3 hrs) is something incredible! Would you ever be tempted to do a body building show? Getting stage lean isnt very optimal I know, but would be an interesting journey to watch for sure!
@ferguscrawley953 ай бұрын
Thank you mate much appreciated! Honestly I’m just not interested (and I mean no offence to anyone that is), having focused on getting super lean twice before, it just didn’t give me the fulfilment/opportunity that training for utility does. Who knows, maybe that’ll change at some point but as it stands, how I look is always a by-product/in service of a performance goal 🫡

Phidippides did not run that actual distance of 26.2 miles, the actual distance of the marathon was actually instated in a early 1900's marathon in England. Before that the marathon varied in distance alot, there was not an official distance before then but it usually was 25miles, phidippides was said to have run around 22, which was the distance between the battlefield and the city he ran to.

I has the same issue! Did my first ever race this year. The Robinhood half marathon. I did my Achilles. From skipping. Just decided to have a go at skipping. Hadn't done it for ages. Both my achilles felt sore afterwards and I planned to do a 10 mile run the next day and even though they were sore, I still went out and did it. Stupid me😅. So I had to have like a month off training. But I didn't stop straight away. I tried to ignore it, hoping it would go away and it didn't. Then when I could finally run. I wasn't able to try and do anything other than just get the distance done. By the the time I was able to put some speed in. There was a week left 🤷
