Running is so perfect in that way, especially if you're short on time, because in a lot of cases you'll be able to see just as much of a city as you would have on a sight seeing bus (but more fun in our opinion because it's way more immersive). I feel like it should be a universal husband rule that they should always just order slightly more of whatever they're getting because they know we're going to steal some of it anyway 😂 But yes! City running tours are much more our style compared to sitting in one of those buses. We're happy people can do the bus tours if they need to, but for us it's so much more fun exploring on foot!

Thanks Nancy, and way to go!!! We're curious to know whether you preferred the race-style format or doing it your own way. We prefer doing it our own way, because we can see everything we want and also take nice long breaks to drink milkshakes, etc., whenever we want. But there's probably something to be said for the group camaraderie of doing it in the race-style as well -- plus you wouldn't have to wait at all the traffic lights!

Just a few supplemental notes (kudos on labeling most everything you came across). 3:18 They're running down Arguello Blvd and the big round top building is a large synagogue called Congregation Emanu El. 3:48 Our heroes are standing on the gorgeous University of San Francisco campus, and are looking at St. Ignatius Church (4 towers in one building!) with a view of Twin Peaks and the Sutro Tower in the distance. (This is a zoomed view). 6:04 Running down Fulton towards the beautiful City Hall. Skipping over the boring parts to teleport to Union Square.

Elise didn't go for a swim in the lake! Many years back my son did a presentation at a young engineers meeting here in the UK, he didn't realise it but he had won the best presentation, but he had to deliver it again at Berkeley Uni in San Francisco. He spent a week there and got to ride over the Golden Gate Bridge on a mountain bike to Marin County, he had dreamt of doing it, ticked it off with pride. Oh my god!! I was not expecting this video.. It brought back so many beautiful memories of college , family and my life in US before moving to Canada last year. I was living very close to SFO. My sister lives in the pan handle area so I have so many beautiful memories of running on Haight street,Golden gate park, Duboce park, The painted ladies. My college was on Pier 39 and the evenings with friends at the pier. Then a visit to Union Square every Christmas to see the giant Christmas tree. Pittsburgh, PA would be a great place to film a marathon video sometime. It would be a good challenge too, as it has a lot of hills like San Francisco. And Pittsburgh has a ton of bridges as there are 3 big rivers that go through the city. I don't think I've seen a city with so many bridges. One of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Another great location would be Glacier National Park in Montana. It would be challenging and spectacular. And, consider adding Alaska's Denali National Park as well. You may want to bring bear spray for both locations though. lol

I hate driving across them in CA because I am always terrified about getting caught on one during an earthquake, but running across it those fears melted away and I just felt this huge rush of joy and freedom. A native of the bay area, it was still fun to see so much of San Francisco. Participated in a number of Bay to Breakers races but far short of what you accomplished. I enjoy all your adventures whether you are in the mountains or even visiting a place such as San Francisco. Your milkshake choice was the right one although I do love cookies...baked some today. Mmmmm...cookies. Yes they are wonderful too (and freshly baked with a glass of milk, definitely in the conversation for best treat ever). But are they as good as freshly made donuts? Brings back memories for me.......The last time I drove across the GGB was in I think 1974 me and another friend flew out to San Fran to see a friend and also catch a Led Zeppelin concert and while we were out there he took us across the GGB over to Sausalito........I remember at the time as to how steep the roads were over there.

Yes, yes show us more urban marathons/where Adam ate his pop tarts today. This summer went to San Francisco with daughter and son. Was foggy and windy, but had fun. Was at Yosemite before. The fact you snacked as much as you did and still ran a marathon tells me what kind of shape you are in. Enjoyed the video.

Haha this sentence could be interpreted in so many ways - either we are in terrible shape because we had to stop and eat all those snacks, or we have guts of steel because we could eat all that sugar and still run a marathon 😂 Thankfully the Pop Tarts took a time out on this one in favor of the churro and shake, but you better believe they'll be making another appearance soon. Yes, we always try to find a way to create an adventure, even when we've got other obligations preventing us from getting out on the trails! We have been doing quite a few marathons lately so thankfully our bodies are better conditioned for this sort of thing. Plus, when you get to take all day to do it, it's pretty enjoyable!

what a beautiful video! went to san francisco on the way back from northern cali and the redwoods( i lvie in phoenix) and my 4runner got broken into and all my stuff stolen while parked in San Francisco. Glad to see a different side of the city than what I experienced
