A 5000 btu window ac unit consumes about 400 to 500 Watts/Hour and will be plenty of BTU for a well insulated van like this one. The Bluetti AC200 will probably run it for about 4-5 hours down to 30-40% battery. Also there was something flawed with this test when he plugged the shore power into the AC200 gen it was already drawing 860W without the AC unit being even turned on (he must have a battery charger turned on for the house batteries or something...) It shows for sure that this guys are neither mathematicians or engineers 🤣

How has this been holding up over the past few months? Mine is arriving this week and I’m mainly concerned about the inverter insufficiency/parasitic losses. How effective is the draining it to 0% and then recharge to 100%? Is it a major difference or just help out a little? If could provide any numbers regarding your inverter efficiency since you made this video I would sincerely appreciate it! We lose power about once a month in the summer due to storms, anywhere from 15 min to a full a day. I’m planning on using this for those days. Now I’m worried if it’s been sitting for a month or so and then the power goes out and it has lost all of its stored charge I am going to be completely screwed and there’s no point in me buying it if it can’t hold a charge in store for a month or longer

I'm building a campervan now and I have 640W of solar for the roof and I've ordered the AC200 to power everything. They claim a September delivery window. I also bought a 5000 Btu window air conditioner (which claims to cool a 150 square foot area...the inside of my van is less than half that, so it should be plenty big enough) that is rated to use 400W. I hope it works out but, given enough sunlight and capacity in the AC200, I plan to run the AC when I can with little to no capacity degradation.
@Do_the_Dishes4 жыл бұрын
David, Just an FYI, I did some testing with my 6000 Btu window unit at my camp with a battery backup system. It pulled only 710 watts on start up and settled down to 305 watts on high. I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered one of these units and was given the same September delivery time. Will Prowse with DYI Solar Power did some testing on a 5000 Btu A/C unit for his solar shed you might want to check out.
@David-rx2to4 жыл бұрын
@@Do_the_Dishes Thanks for your comments. I'm surprised your 6K Btu unit only used 305W. You must have purchased a super efficient unit. Mine was the most efficient one I could find in the 5K range and the spec sheet says 400W compared to most of the others the same size @ 450-460W. Maybe they rate them at the startup watt usage? If mine peaks at 400W and then settles to 300W or less, I'll be happy. I'm thinking the compressor doesn't run all the time, and cycles on and off as needed, so run times could be extended longer than I think. I watched that video with Will, but it's worth watching again. Thanks.

@Do_the_Dishes4 жыл бұрын
you would have to wire two or more in series to achieve the minimum 35 volts (44V) and 6 max (132v). 7 panels in series would probably work even tho it calculates to 154V. The high range of the panels are for best possible conditions which is rarely achieved.
@anonymous_friend4 жыл бұрын
@@Do_the_Dishes So if I understand this correctly, I can buy an additional boulder 200 briefcase and run them in series? then this would be a parallel-series configuration right? since the boulder 200 are two-100w panels wired in parallel.
@Do_the_Dishes4 жыл бұрын
@@anonymous_friend, I think you will be cutting it too close. Can you wire those two 100 watt panels in Series and make it a 24V panel or is it factory wired to 12v only? I think the reality is you may not achieve the 35 volts minimum for the MPPT controller to kick in even with 2 in series if they can only put out 12 volts nominal per briefcase. I just watched a video of a guy testing the boulder 200, and under a load, the unit puts out around 17.5 volts at about 10.5 amps in perfect conditions. This means you will get the turn on voltage needed (17.5 + 17.5 = 35 v) during perfect conditions only. Its a good question, but I think you will need more voltage for this unit.
