Long time follower. You're doing a lot of things right, keep it up. And...you need to hit the weights. Seriously, you will get faster, your form will improve, your stride will get longer, all the good stuff. Rock the half!
@jazzyjay45953 ай бұрын
Most of the literature shows that weight training doesn’t actually change form. Will you be stronger? Yes. Will you be able to handle more? Yes. Will it change your form? No. Just trying to help spread accurate information!
@hrw0913_3 ай бұрын
@@jazzyjay4595it doesn’t necessarily change your form, but it does help you prevent your form from breaking in the latter stages of a race or workout. Strength training allows you to maintain efficiency even when you’re fatigued. It helps promote proper mechanics. Either way, Spence does do strength training.

Have you ever tried Gu Liquid Energy? What I like about them is that they are more watery than the really sticky standard Gu’s. So they are easier to get down and you don’t feel like you need to chase it down with water to get the sickly sweet out of your mouth after taking the standard Gu’s.

Kind of like an extended Yasso. What did you go through the 800’s in? If you did 10 of them and went through 800m mark in say 2:25 with 2-3 minute slow jog recovery then you are in 2:25 marathon shape. Could we be looking at a sub 1:08 half marathoner? Spence is on a roll. Crushing it. Exciting to watch you go after this half marathon distance.

Maurten gels are expensive, but relatively flavorless and easy to get down (if you're not bothered by the texture). The 160s have 40 grams of carbs each.

Great effort!!! Just focus on your right arm trying not bouncing your hand, just rotate from shoulder. Try SIS betafuel gels; has perfect carbohydrate source and ratio.

I love the Huma gels because they're almost runny, not super thick like Gu gels are. Makes them messier but much easier to get down.

Definitely good to practice taking in calories during the long runs. Personally, I use Kendal Mint Co for a lot of sub ultra stuff. Found the mint flavour to be really refreshing for my palette and gives a bit of mental zing alongside the carbs and the electrolytes. I have no idea what their international shipping is like though, presumably they ship to the US.

High 5 energy gels in the orange flavor. They're very liquidy (just slightly thicker than water) so they go down easy and the flavor is pretty good!

Carbs Fuel energy gels for the win... 2:1 glucose:fructose ratio, +100mg of sodium, 50 gas of carbs per gel. No, I don't work for them. Switched to these earlier this summer after getting sick on a long gravel cycling race on other products. Raced this past weekend, 70 miles in about 4.5 hrs (on the bike again). Consumed a gel about every 45 min with plain water and had no issues. Also, no water is really needed to wash them down. Running a half in October and will be using these gels for that event too!
