It's not even that bad, this is pretty tame shenanigans. Tomato is just playing nice cause he doesn't have the heart to be mean which is what's making it worse. I would've been absolutely punishing them in response if was in his shoes. Field magic status effects every single turn when can and getting charms to steal their properties.

Mechanic Lore - Traps while they may seem useless, they are surprisingly powerful. They are able to deal damage or more importantly afflict any status ailment. Which include everything from the basic spells that players can use such as poison or footsores to advanced status ailments from events such as being Wanted, Plague(25% max hp poison per turn), Ebola (50% all stat down) to even Doom which will guarantee kill the player within 3 turns.

Mechanic Lore - Cleric's passive has a 20% chance to recover a potion worth of health. Tomato has been lucky enough to miss this chance at every turn except one as a cleric :D

It really does seem like the meta for this game stat wise would be magic and speed, because combined makes you crazy dodge map spells and reduce magic damage in fights.

I know that everyone's already psychoanalysed this to hell and back, but it needs to be said: Benji is deliberately throwing to become darkling. If he stopped doing that, Sam would have been fourth (or Tomato by the end here). My theory as to why is the same reason I do stuff like this in competitive board games; I'm not competitive, and it looks better to embrace failure and set your own objectives rather fail than be seen trying and failing. He doesn't like the game, he isn't feeling competitive and thus is making a point of doing his own thing, and the only reason he isn't going after Gmart is because he wrongly thinks it would prolong the game. BENJI: Fair competition between players isn't just redistribution, it adds to the victor's power. Even in conflict, the cycles of victory and defeat accelerate the game's pace. By sandbag-ing tomato and Sam here and only letting Gmart play the game properly he's making the experience miserable and LONGER. (and making viewers unhappy. which is probably why they'll stop playing this. their job is to entertain, not piss everyone off.) TOMATO: It isn't wild that they're acting this way. It's no surprise that after punching down at you and Sam all game, Gmart & Benji would PRETEND to be outraged that you wouldn't then fuck over Sam to help them. They're actively stabbing you over and over again dude, you aren't gonna get them to see reason mid-shank. They know exactly what they're doing. I know, I know, screaming into the void here.

So I think Benji is just doing this because there is never any "pushback", legitimately the only person I think I could consider to have a reasonable crash out at any moment. Should be Sam. Tomato can take a beating and has had his handed to him but Sam has minded his own buisness MUCH LIKE GMART (which is a stab at the argument I wanna bring when Benji threw one of his towns away.) and has still gotten random strays and focused beams of malice. Even when given the chance of the "great equalizer" he was still like "but Sam could get three towns before I could" when EVERY TOWN has advertisements of Gmart drinking spring water, wine, and showing of jewels that would rival kings. I think, Benji is trying to let Gmart win so the game ends cause he doesnt like it. THAT is my take. (I do wanna state, that this is just me guess working the state of mind of how the rest of the game is going to look like. like perdictions.)

My favorite parts are when Gmart gets hurt and copes too hard.
