As has been rightfully pointed out within minutes of this video going live - I've made the rookie error of conflating "memory" and "storage space". In my defense, the module calls it the User Sample Memory, but I will make sure to do better. As a goodwill gesture, here are the documents I refer to in the video - ► Roland TD-17 v2 sample chart - www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/neq41h79084mo5r9kkcd0/Roland-TD-17-v2-User-Sample-Table.pdf?rlkey=ibuv4c8ybwkyzfp91vnfm3q2e&dl=0 ► Roland TD-17 v2 sample chart - www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/9htp1kox493k58x1i7w0z/Roland-TD-27-v2-User-Sample-Table.pdf?rlkey=gcp0ageq3y3ts37hbeiyljs9o&dl=0 ► Roland TD-50/50X sample chart - www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/g1hclb3kuqfp1npbirkwl/Roland-TD-50X-User-Sample-Table.pdf?rlkey=s3wb5og89gdc1aw3206cethfn&dl=0

Yea I’m nervous about Roland busting out a new flagship anytime soon because I just ordered a a vad 706 with extra cymbals and Tom most of the folks I’ve talked to said they think it would mostly be on the side of a new module and could probably just add it to my existing drums so fingers crossed

@@johnfrith7884 unless they embrace the wireless triggers from DWe (which nobody's buying), most pads are gonna be universal (just a piezo and some foam), so you're probably fine.

Luke, I need your help my Roland VAD 706 will be here probably Saturday or most of it. It’s several boxes I ordered extra stuff, but could you please tell me what you would recommend in a computer to put all my music on to play along to as well as run VST superior drummer three Steven Slate drums etc or whatever What’s the best computer for this? What’s the best interface for this computer? What all do I need if I want the least latency and best sound quality possible Could you please just tell me what you would recommend I’m not worried about trying to get the cheapest. It makes no sense to spend this kind of money on this kit and then try to cheap out on stuff, so what is the best thing that you would recommend I’m new to edrums and really just want to get the right stuff and get set up. I Appreciate your help. Thank you very much.

My time don’t sound as clean as yours do on my HouseKit on the 50x 🤧🥴 I didn’t even mess with any of the settings 😭😭 howwwwww this happens with the toms on every kit I purchase from your store on the 50x 😂 not complaining because at this point I’ve just copied individual instruments from your kits to others so not a waste of money. But am I missing something here ? 🤔

Hey! Sorry to hear that. I've recorded the module straight out of the Master L&R outputs here and on my demo videos, so they should sound pretty much the same as the headphone output. The first thing I always suggest is to make sure you're listening to the video with the same headphones, monitors or speakers that you use for your kit so that you can make an accurate assessment about whether they truly sound different or whether it's just a difference in the device you're listening on. If you have ruled that out, my next suggestion is to check that your trigger settings are properly set up for your playing style. This can affect the sound you hear, especially if they're set too low and you aren't hitting the top velocities. Here is a rough guide for ensuring your triggers are set up well for your playing style - Open the trigger settings (TRIGGER > SENS) and start hitting the pad with your hardest "musical" hits - by this I mean the hardest hits you use in a musical setting, not the hardest you can physically hit the pad. There is a graph that shows the strength of each of your hits and it will also display a number value for your hits. With Roland's digital pads (USB), the top number displayed for the velocity of a strike is 127+32, for the analogue pads (jack cable), the top is 127. If you find that you're never hitting near the top of the graph, increase the Sensitivity while hitting the pad until your hits start reaching the top of the graph. If you hit the top too easily, you can reduce the Sensitivity. I would go around each pad and ensure that these are all correctly configured. There are also velocity curves that deal with the transition between soft hits and hard hits - there are explanations for each type of curve in the TD-50X Data List manual available from Roland's website. However, the top velocity will be most important to begin with to make sure that the "full" sound is being played when you hit hard. This is especially important on kits that have samples added like the House Kit because the samples use the "Fade" settings on the sub layer. This means the samples only hit full volume when you get to the top of the dynamic range of each pad. I hope these suggestions help!

Hello, Is there a way to increase the GB size in the TD-50X module? I have a 250GB SD card, but when I format my card, the module formats my card to 32GB. Is there a way to increase the amount of GB in the module so that is can accept and read a 250GB SD card??
@TheeDrumWorkshop
@TheeDrumWorkshop 2 ай бұрын
Hey. As far as I'm aware - no, unfortunately not. I know the manual states that the module is only compatible with 32GB SD cards which isn't strictly true, but I believe that it will always format the card to 32GB if the card is bigger (as you've found). I don't know the exact reason but I imagine it needs to do it to be able to use the card. I usually just use 32GB cards because of this and save my larger cards for devices that can actually use the full capacity. 99 backups will only use a maximum of around 12.7GB. But I understand that buying more cards just for this reason might feel like a waste.

Since memory is very cheap nowadays it is hard to understand why Roland puts so little user storage space in their modules and/or does not make it possible to use extra storage space with an sd card or usb stick. Are these few $ so important for the profit gain versus customer satisfaction? Megabytes of storage space, are we talking 1980? Shamefull.

Yeah, the tech that Roland use in their modules is really beginning to show its age against many of the more recent module releases (not that it wasn't already!) I'm hoping that the next generation shakes things up enough. If it follows cues from the SPD-SX Pro's screen and memory capacity, that would be a great start.

@Ludo_A 2 ай бұрын
@@TheeDrumWorkshop Indeed. This week my SPD SX PRO arrived (with a lot more memory) For the SPD SX PRO it seems that there are not that many expansion packs available at the moment (I find the Roland ones and those from Sawka). Any info from you Luke?

I cannot help but think that the modules are outdated. Pace of innovation is painfully slow. Using a computer with for instance ez drummer or superior drummer might be the next step for me. Problem: I use Luke’s “famous” drumsounds. And Luke still is using modules (sofar)

@@Ludo_A I'm hoping to have some SPD-SX PRO stuff in the future, utilising some samples I'm working on for other kits. Currently I do have The eDW eLements series which are designed to be layered, so they're fully compatible. They can be used as layers for acoustic triggering or you could stack them with internal SX PRO sounds with the layering functionality. They're more "experimental toolbox" packs than my module kits though.
