Yes, the aqua jogging is an excellent cross training tool. Have used it for decades, especially when keeping fit for Boston while having 2 broken toes. It goes just like the video you showed except I use weights on my feet, ankles, wrists, and sewn into the legs of my swim suit for extra hip and thigh effort. Have some sort of audio entertainment via Shox and phone pairing. I did this in the early days before the tech entertainment was so tech easy. I turned 75 today and wanted to do 7.5 miler but legs did not agree 😡so scaled back to 7.5k but nope with the weather 😫so just 5k. Will try again tomorrow.😅

God to see those exercises. Maybe others will add in small things like these to prevent future injuries. No need for a thermal blanket here in South GA, it was 87F (30.5C) and 73 dew point during my run today. I LOVE the heat!!! I've been taking cold showers for years now. We live out in the country and have a 200ft deep well. Our cold water is around 50F almost all year round. Tub is cool. They should make it a hot tub/cold tub option and then I could see the $$$$. Part of my weekly program has been heavy lifting. Deadlifts, squats, hip thrusts and Bulgarian split squats. I attribute a lot of my injury prevention to the gym lifting. And my coach suggesting it!

Sounds like you are doing all the right things and it's paying off.!!! It's been a roller coaster for temps here which is typical. It will get back down in the low 30's over the next couple days.Thanks for sharing Jim. Have a great day.

Yes lifting heavy weights and plyometrics can help strengthen your bones or make them more resilient but obviously you need to wait until the healing process is complete

Yes.. I'm limited to the things I can do at the moment. I am hoping that I'll be able to start a return to run program after my follow up appointment in 3 weeks. I can start building in strength training with weights a little at a time during that process. Thanks for taking the time to share. Great info and tips. Have a great day.

oyster mushrooms are pretty good for your bone health and growth... and delicious... and 30% protein and lots of fibre...

my cold plunge is 51 and that feels great to me. I stay in for about 10 minutes.

That's awesome. Have fun today. I wish I was able to run it as well. Izzo and his players really go out of their way to make it special for all runners, walkers, and those who roll it. I've been wanting to run the Crim. If all goes well, I might be able to do a 10 mile this summer. Going for a run would be great! It might be later this summer though. My stress fracture is still in the healing stages. I am hopeful that I'll get the okay to start a return to run program in a couple weeks. Enjoy today!

@@RunTallthanks it was fun race, very crowded and difficult to navigate through the sea of runners but overall finished 160th overall out of 3897 runners. Not my best time ever but happy with it nonetheless at 23:02.

I am concerned about my bone density lately, too. My foot surgery, tooth problem, and recent rib injury make me seriously worry about my weak bones. Guess I need to incorporate more weight lifting workouts to become a healthier runner. Thanks for sharing how you are managing your injuries and training, Tim. Stay healthy and safe!!!
