Running Subs meant to be ported in sealed? Is that possible?

Thank you for answering my question i appreciate you. And yes i had my 15x in a 3cuft sealed box. I actually liked it. I prefer listening to music in the 25-35hz range. I had a skar 2k on it.

subscribed, ur channel is exaclty the audio details I like that no-one answers. I currently have 3 emf banhammers v2 12's. Just designed a ported box for them, but I'm chasing more sq. thinking of running them sealed, just not sure what volume. can u invert for a sealed box to keep soft parts cooler?

Well subs like X12s are ran all the time in 4th order bandpass applications. The way you avoid bottoming out is making the sealed section really small. .6cu ft per sub small.

I'm running B2 audio ragexl in a sealed enclosure just finished my system a few days ago so don't know how it works yet b2 said it will work had 3 jl w7 in a sealed box in my last system and it sounded good.

I've got 4 12s in the trunk of my 04 civic. Two are ported, firing out at the quarter panels and ports firing back at the trunk latch, and the two sealed ones are firing at the ported boxes and blocks most of the back seat window with the back of the sealed box, it almost acts like a secondary port from the trunk to the cabin. Plays strong from 80hz down to 30hz before it drops off. My question is, could I seal the trunk wall and build a port window for the pressure in the trunk to be "tuned" before it hits the cabin? Or would I be better off to build a single 4 12 ported box and tune way low? My goal is to be strong down to 20/18ish and from my understanding, tuning low boosts the lows while still allowing higher frequency to pass through the port and the subs take over above tuning.

Great question! This is where car audio gets weird sometimes and can do some unusual things. However, from my instinct and from what I have experienced, build a trunk wall for your 12's if possible. Trunk walls, in my opinion, are the best way to get loud for trunk vehicles. Once you fit to much into a trunk, it starts to choke off the performance because it can't breath. Plus all of the same subs in the same box will work together. You might have to clamshell the subs to fit them all but I think it will be worth it! Try to make your tuning somewhat adjustable and watch my video on Tune high to play low! to decide what you want to tune at. Also, run a smaller port so you can dig down lower.

I'm honestly contemplating running a SoloX 12 in a sealed box. Kicker doesn't list a recommended sealed enclosure only a ported box. I love the sound of a sealed enclosure. I don't have all the software you have, If you have time could you model the new SoloX in a sealed box. Then tell me what is the ideal cubic feet for it sealed.

Lol The reason it’s not recommended is bc it’s a waste of performance. You could get similar performance from a l7 solobaric 12

@@abelscaliber7969 regardless I like the sound of a sealed box. I was only ever going to run the sub at 2000 rms, so if I lose some performance so be it.

Give me a link to the sub with the TS specifications. Also, what size amp are you putting on it?
