Yep, you should _never_ rub your eyes if you have glass, silicates or (particularly) pumice ash in them as the microscopic shards will cut up your eyes a treat. As the safety guy here demonstrates, the thing to use is compressed air to blow away the offending debris. The compressed air that comes in cans for the cleaning of computers, camera gear and sensitive electronic equipment and camera lenses that is - I wouldn't recommend using the local garage tyre pump on your eyes, that could end in tears...

I think the main issue people have is that they’re presentation is a bit more wooden, but in a recent video on the second channel Gav explained why and I think with that added context it makes perfect sense.

I was 12 yrs old when I went through a glass door, no tempered glass, thick glass. I had to get more than 70 stitches to close cuts...some were deep and long. I still have glass in my body 36 years later. I lost so much blood that had to get some shots of a special medicine throughout a whole week in bed. The stitches I got in my lip were the most painful ones. Not fun!! I was then exposed to stories of people that have died in similar accidents as the top part of the glass comes down quickly enough to act as a guillotine...God is great!

I think what’s missing in those first few videos is that it’s not those crazy slow mo that make you able to see things that you can’t see in real time. Like for exemple I was almost more interested into how the glass breaks with the detonation cause it’s so instantaneous and the funny faces are fun to watch but as a bonus of something more unique. As someone said, nowadays people running and falling or jumping or fighting in slomo is very common in movies so it doesn’t look like something never seen before. I even have the feeling that you are not as amazed looking at the footage as you are in your “backyard videos” :) anyway. It’s still pleasant to watch but I hope the next ones are gonna be more special in a way ;)
