Can confirm, weak calves lead to injury! My right calf was always weaker, didn't think much of it, but as soon as I started getting on toward 30 mile weeks, with a good bit of speed work... BAM achilles tendinopathy. 9 months and a LOT of strengthening later, better than ever.

I had just that, shut me down around that distance. Had a good crack at calf lifts and stretches and the problem cleared within a week or two, good luck with it! I also find the neoprene ankle warming sock things are really good for increasing blood flow and speeding recovery for Achilles etc

Great clear instructions, I'll be adding this to my schedule. I'm constantly fighting calf/achilles issues due to abnormally short achilles. I know I need to strengthen my calves too, but always seem to focus on stretching alone.

Awesome timing! I've cobbled together playlists but this calf routine puts it all together. Another neglectful area to strengthen may be the peroneal tendon for future vids.

I never took strength and conditioning seriously until I felt that familiar pain in my heel/foot region. I've felt this pain for literally months, since last year, and I thought the reason was that I trained too hard (which I've done better with). When I saw that taking off from running wasn't helping to ease the pain, and ice wasn't do much either, I kept looking up how to deal with plantar fasciitis, because the symptoms were exactly what I had. The only thing I used from this video was I practiced the first exercise. I started running again, even though I still felt the pain, because I realized I had to be more flexible to strengthen my muscles. When I first stood on the platform of my feet, I could really feel the stretching in my calves and the muscles felt fatigued within seconds. So I had to lower them back down. Today, I can raise up and hold for almost a minute, plus the pain in my heel area has nearly vanished. I need new running shoes, but other than that, I feel so much better. Thank you for the video!

Strength and conditioning not only reduces injury risk but also massively boosts performance if done regularly enough. Since I started including S&C the improvement I've seen has been pretty ridiculous. Probably a minute+ off my estimated 10K time.

Thanks for watching! Try to give yourself a rest day or two during the week. With strength training it's a good idea to trt 3 days per week for progression, 2 days per week for maintenance. Hope this helps and good luck 😊
