Ha yeah, a lot of people do that, but it's supposed to be a coping mechanism for most people so I don't blame them. Most of the time when I do it too. Except I think I end feeling better about the race/run when I degrade my potential skill.

Latecomer for me. Some other ones. The heavy breather - self explanatory. The sprinter - toddles round park run or race but come last 100 metres decides to sprint it. A new one which is popping up more frequently is The Vegan Runner - Dont worry they will tell you all about it. The Coach - Telling random people how they can run better while out running

I think you are missing some important combinations, like the all-too-common "No Shirt, Short Shorts" runner, often that serious slow-twitch triathlete who can dust you in any distance longer than a mile. Then, there's my favorite, that most ridiculous of unicorns, the "No Shirt, Short Shorts, All The Gear" runner, covered with so much tech -- chest straps, smart glasses, foot pods, phone holsters, sodium patches, and other gadgets -- that perhaps clothing itself may be optional.

5 is definately me! No matter what time i get up before a parkrun i always seem to get there just in time. Even got my 10k pb because of this running to the park run just as people were called into the funnel, literally chucked my bag into the pile and we were off. One of the only times ive ran a parkrun with a drink in hand to.

The shirtless runner! Yes, tons of them here in Florida. Many even run races like that, with their race number pinned to their shorts. It's like they totally skipped the singlet section of the running store; bought their shoes, shorts, and socks and got out of there.

I set a 5k PR at a race where my watch measured the route as 3.06 miles. So, according to Garmin and Strava it isn't my PR even though I had smashed my old time by enough to still be well into PR territory with an extra 0.04 miles. It turned me into a bit of a distance denier. So, if you ever see me keep running full speed passed the finish line, it is because I want to make sure my watch believes me the next time I set a PR.
