Water break ins were on the old school racing days to get every little performance out of the motor, but it wears down the brushes half way just from one break in, generally yes the motor will be fine but it will wear your brushes down this is because the coating that forms usually will cause very little abrasion of the brushes but with water well it’s not there so you’re just wearing your motor down way faster

i have traxxas trx4 defender, its already waterproof but i coat the circuit board using a 3 layers of clear spray. better safe than sorry. that being said, one of my friend got his trx4 short circuit after dipping the car in the water. turns out, the waterproof seal box of the receiver is loosen over time. so spraying the circuit board is a security measure.

I have a much more effective way to waterproof the ESC on my Quick tips and tricks video series I show how I upgrade that kind of ESC by using a makeshift injector to inject a black rubber sealant. It’s for more superior than Plasti dip it’s called prematex Black rubber sealant it takes longer to dry but is way more heavy duty plasti dip is great don’t get me wrong but for that kind of ESC injecting the black rubber sealant completely covers the entire chip inside the shrink tubing cover giving you a worry free Seal. I’m sure you’re Plasti dip is working just fine but On the other hand Plasti dip is easy to remove and scrape off accidentally That other stuff that I’m talking about is on another level but it also cost 14 times more at $9 for 1.5 ounces roughly enough for 8 or 10 ESC waterproof jobs.

Great tips!! How do u isolate the little hole in the gearbox!? Or the grease inside is enought!? Thanks.
@RunThatRC5 жыл бұрын
You can apply waterproof grease on the hole, shafts and around the seem where the case splits for extra peace of mind. I just fill it full with grease and the gears spinning should sling it around everywhere and make a pretty good seal.

@RunThatRC2 жыл бұрын
if you play in sand or mud the motor can get damaged and stuck if your not protecting it. You should always rinse and dry your truck after running in water specially mud and sand. taking apart your axles and clean regrease then that should keep it running good.

Lithium ions can be submerged but make sure to get them dry after you run because they may start to corrode. Hi. Just wondering how you water proof the battery connectors?
@den414005 жыл бұрын
I thing its fine for the connectors to get wet just saying
@TheActionBastard5 жыл бұрын
You could make a boot of some kind if you were really concerned, but I think that like they said the electrical conductivity of the water and the large gap between the contacts (as well as the pressure fit/seal from them being connected) would just not be conductive enough to draw an arc when there is a much better path through the wiring. I prefer to make a ghetto boot or wrap my connectors or just... 3d print some crap so I can seal things in boxes and just run wires out with silicone seals around the wires.
@RunThatRC5 жыл бұрын
Don't know why I'm only getting this notification now. Sorry for the late reply. The connector for your lipo or lion batts are fine the way they are just don't run in salt water or they will rust quick.
