Jay jay french was a legend in NY and mostly Long Island. I saw TS at least 1000 times.Every Thursday at speaks for 3 years.I was on the building at play land amusement park.We had to park 3 miles away and run to show because the traffic was totally stalled.Jay Jay was the draw for me in TS.They blew the power out of the Suffolk Arena,I believe there was 5000 people there. They were the most important part of my teenage years.I was at speaks one night and I met the most beautiful girl in the club and rocking roll Saviors was starting the band was coming on,and this girl asked me to go outside to her car.....And I said are you out of your mind TS is starting and we will never get this spot back. That's how much I loved these guys.I got her the following Thursday. What a rack she had.

I'll never forget seeing Twisted Sister in Jersey while growing up there in the 70's and 80's! Places like 'The Soap Factory' and 'Circus Circus'! One night, my friend and I threw an Ace Frehley pin onstage (if I recall correctly, it was more like handing the pin to Jay Jay as he was performing), and much to our surprise he started wearing it on his guitar strap! Such fun memories seeing them live!

I lived in San Antonio growing up and it was a serious metal city. Many bands got their start there like Queensryche and Triumph. The first radio station to play their music on the airwaves. The first place Rush is heard in the south. Joe Anthony and 99.5 KISS proudly played Twisted Sister before Stay Hungry and San Antonio loves that band.

He is/was also the Manager of Sevendust, and he also controls the publishing rights to the TS catalog, so anybody that uses their songs, he gets a check and low and behold, they wrote the greatest FY anthem of all time! lol

A childhood friend of mine, and fellow Twisted Sister fan (who's uncle performed the wedding ceremony of the Mrs. & I, many years ago), who lived in NYC for many years, and was a bar tender for some time, contacted me about a decade ago... He said "I met Jay Jay French, from Twisted Sister, and he gave me an autographed record, and he was one of the nicest, most down-to-earth people I ever met! You were the first person I thought about after this encounter!" And this is a friend who's parents were friends with my parents before either of us was born, but man, I would have loved to have met Jay Jay. From what my friend told me he was extremely kind and very humble.

I loved this video and jay jays passion honesty and attitude. Now if only todays generation that happens to watch this and get off their arses and not think everything is free under a liberal bubble and handed on a silver plater which it’s not. Do the same, have the passion and have the drive before it’s too late. That kind of spirit can fuel anyone. Great way of thinking jay jay. God bless you. I have loved twisted since I first had seen them on mtv in the early 80s.

The number of bands that I travelled to see in the late 70s and early 80’s are countless. TS was the only band that I ever travelled to see during a blizzard in I think January 1985 at the Fountain Casino in NJ. I want to say there was about 1000 other SMFs at the show that night. A great time for rock.

Had the occaision to stumble on Jj french collection pod cast. Just so happened I was looking for A Johnny Lee documentary and ma google set me on it. I just fulfilled a 30 year ambition to meet up with Johnny since we both moved to Branson area to see if he remembered. He indeed did after his gracious sister Jan heard my story and took me back stage just before curtains. I had also opened for Mickey Gilly back then and they were due to rejoin for the urban cowboy revival. I was looking forward to seeing if both remembered me but of course found that Mickey sadly passed. So I tried back when it was rearranged with John Schneider And it was a blast to go back stage. No Crown was to be had but we quickly reminiced bout those days .. Hopefully the mic was not hot dont think so lol. But thx for that podcast as I wondered many years what shot I bought him back then to go with his favorite California " in and out burger" So it was " Crown" BTW he has one last show I think Dec 5th in Branson.. itd be kick ass if you took a wild hair and showed up. ! Everythings gonna be alright !

I wonder what JayJay would have to say if he were coming today? What’s up with the state of R&R? Do Rock and Roll clubs even exist today? Twisted Sister playing a Saturday matinee show at L’amours “the rock Capital of Brooklyn”. Then a head line show later that night. Those were the days Gen X baby!
