Theyre making art. Their view of the world is different to yours and mine Miss Vikki. Years of persecution kind of pushes people into a corner where all they can do is change their perspective from fear to "I don;t give two fucks what anyone thinks." At the end of the day if you hear when the woman at the end of the video decides to have a real decent chat with them, they open up. They were also probably HIGH as a kite, which alters reality. These people were just trying to make ends meet in a society that rejects them and leaves them in the shadows.

NYC in the 80s looks amazing, This is exactly how it is in my head when I imagine it. Dirty, gritty and real but with a certain unique twang to it that no other place has or had. No doubt it's just like any other major city now, now that we all worship the same brands just different temples, cities are becoming giant malls. No longer places filled with soul and personality, just giant trading floors in the game of life.
@SIyDoll8 жыл бұрын
+Andrew Joseph It was dirty and also unsafe and frightening. But that's where the beauty came from. Can't have one without the other.

+SlyDoll Precisely. This is partly the reason I wish I was in my teens/20's through the late 60s,70s and early 80's when life (especially gay life) was lot more dangerous and underground. The seediness of being Gay is almost gone unless you go looking for it. I purposely travelled to london just to go to a Gay BathHouse just to experience what would've been the norm only a generation before me.
@SIyDoll8 жыл бұрын
Whilst I understand your fascination for that world, it isn't really something to mourn. So many of my friends were beaten, abused and humiliated back then just for being gay. Their lives were plain awful at times. Even police were no protection...quite the opposite. Hiding away in underground clubs or meeting in secret and speaking a secret language seems glam but it was terrible. Your generation has missed out on some of the more excising sub cultures I agree but you have the internet...that's your thing.

I can't believe the changes there have been in one generation. It is crazy! Speaking of the internet I run a Gay Life and Advice blog www.OKImGay.com, I'd love to interview you about life back then? barbie.frum. hell You would have loved it! The energy was alive!! Now NYC is all robotic with ppl glued to their phones disconnected to what’s around them. It was so animated back then!

This was the day before my first birthday ❤ And ever since I was a very little girl I have been intrigued and obsessed with the club kids and all the people from this time and genre! I still love and follow them and try to find who I can to pay homage too! Thank you Nelson for all that you gave us❤

In my day I use to sell little flowers for a nickle so I could get a slice of pizza or a hot dog with onions. That was in the early 50's. Hear we are in the 80's hustling quarters for a slice. Oh sometings never die. Go ahead Ru.

It's criminal that the views for this are not in the millions. Every drag child needs to at least nod their head this way.
