I think the lever twist was set up to guarantee the first correct pull happened in premiere. That guarantees the most drama because both queens ranked last in Rate A Queen will be around for the rankings reveal. Plus queens are already frustrated that no one went home yet and there's still worry in the air that they may be the first to go. This also leaves just 1 actual save for the rest of the season rather than us facing a possibility that 2 saves could be remaining with, say, 4 or fewer levers remaining (which would very likely make for a mid-late season lull where the audience is just annoyed).

I have now made peace with the rigga morris of it all - this is just like the chocolate twist and last season's immunity potions - they clearly are deadset on doing these last minute "luck" based saves and it's obvious they were gonna save whoever was supposed to go this ep to give everyone at least 3 weeks. The water theme finally makes sense to me now too (it took Aman saying it for me to click 💀) but what I'm excited about now is the idea of who else will be dunked. Carson, Ross, maybe the Pit Crew, Jamal Sims?! Will we get RuPaul dunked for the final save?! If so, this twist is growing on me.
