Those scooters have a manual choke on the bottom, left-hand corner underneath your steering… Same thing happened to me in Costa Rica and then one ride I forgot to remove the choke and then you start losing power so you gotta remember to pull on it when it’s cold and push on it when it’s warmed up.

The temple is of great significance to Buddhism. Its there that Buddhist philosophy was written down in ola leaves like papyrus. Till then it has been passed down from monks verbally.

I think Naomi had rice with sour fish… Called Ambulthiyal, also known as malu ambulthiyal is a must-try Sri Lankan sour fish curry. Made with Goraka(dried garcinia) and black pepper, not only gives the fish ambulthiyal(sour fish)curry a unique taste but is also a method of preserving fish without refrigeration or freezing.

Green leaf stuff is called "Mallum" in Sinhala if it's tempered. If it's fresh leaves, then it's a sort of a 'sambol'. It's like a green leaves salad but with only one type of leaf mixed with grated coconut, onions and green chillies. The type of leaf dictates the taste of each mallum/sambol. .

You can go to the Riverston area. It's really beautiful there. Also, if you can find a local guy who knows in and around the mountains, there are many breathtaking hidden waterfalls deep inside the jungle. There's one called Duwili alla in the Knuckles as well. But you need a person who knows the route to get there.

That black curry is Tender Jack fruit. The green leaves may differ from shop to shop. There are many varieties in srilanka. Gotukola, mugunuwenna, kankun, Aguna, niwithi, saarana, coriander leaves, onion leaves, kathuru murunga, kalawam pala. So many varieties.

If you're planning to visit down south, come to Matara main bus station and take a bus to Deniyaya. From deniyaya you can rent a scooter and explore a magical rain forest area filled with many waterfalls 😊

we never experienced a petrol station non-zero filling scam in Sri Lanka. i think no one doing it purposefully.. accidentally something can happen. For bikes its max around 1500 rupee ..i think its not possible to scam from this 😂
