I'm just happy about the fact that in wilds if you charge the second charge and than tackle with perfect timing, you get a bonus for your skill and keep the charging level instantly on the true charge slash

I started in World (didn't play Rise) and main IG and my understanding of IG in Wilds is this: 1) No adept dodge, clash, or offset added 2) No "helicopter" aerial playstyle due to Vault Dance no longer bouncing you back up (and no one has been able to figure out how to do it, and the devs haven't confirmed anything one way or another) 3) The "advanced" (but really the main) moveset now requires all 3 buffs instead of just the red buff in order to get access to it, this is potentially really bad since some buffs (orange) can be hard to get based on monster design and movement. Even with the new added ways of getting buffs they are still based on the kinsect hitting the right region of the monster (with maybe one possible exception) This could mean that IG will possibly feel really bad to play unless and until you get all 3 buffs. 4) The earplugs/wind res/tremor res with the triple buff requires at least one rank of the Flinch Free skill since the skill is what gives it, it's not native to just having the buffs. This is probably still in Wilds but we would need to see the Flinch Free skill to be sure 5) The rising helicopter slash is nice, but it has 3 big flaws from what I can see (at least with our current level of info) , 1: it spends our extracts in order to even do it, meaning we lose access to the advanced movset, have to gather them all over again, and could be nothing but a hassle, 2: the damage dealt is heavily based on the size (hitbox) of the monster, using it on a small monster is pointless since many of the hits won't connect as you'll be over the monster and whiffing air, 3: the buffs are completely based on the zones hit, and you can get duplicates. So case in point would be doing it and then getting 3 white buffs due to the kinsect having the last 3 hits all be on the wings. You've now lost your advanced moveset, for middling damage, and only gotten one buff back as a result. Given this (and no other additional info) it looks like a move I would never willingly pull off since the risk to reward is way out of balance. TL/DR: Until we get confirmation on a lot more information regarding IG, we're trying to find the scraps of other weapons that are actually eating good. And I am learning Switch Axe just in case they have ruined my bug stick

Completely agree with this. Rurikhan’s take on this weapon was that they wanted it to be more grounded but from what I’ve seen they’ve taken so much from the weapon, it just seems like it’s been neutered. Which makes no sense to me because so many weapons went fully into their niche and got buffs as a whole. So why did Ig just get nerfed in so many aspects of the weapon?

@@JJGateway01 exactly, it feels like we got a nerf while everyone else got a buff. The only saving grace is that we still don't know everything regarding the weapon and we could wind up getting mechanics to rectify these issues. We just don't know.

So as far as I've gathered knowledge so far, Wilds leans waay more into a Build your charge, spend your charge kinda playstyle with every weapon. That's why with IG in focus mode, your Kinsect attacks with you to organically collect buffs, which you can in turn spend on the big multi hit and rinse and repeat that. As someone who basically mained IG for as long as it existed, I'm sad to see some stuff go but this could be my fav iteration ever.

@@augstradus I've only been using it since World, but I main IG and love it. The changes I see in Wilds have me concerned regarding the weapon's state. The IG seems to be losing more, and getting less, than most other weapons, with most weapons not losing anything at all. I've been trying to learn SA in World just in case they have ruined by beloved bug stick, but hopefully there are things I'm not aware of that will change my mind on it.

The difference from the old games running different builds to now people running all the same isn’t the amount of slots inherently. It’s the negative skills that came with them. It kept you from doing that. That is up to the end game when things became less punishing on the negative skill side.

I remember doing the all charged shelling Wyvern Stake Blast with 3 other random Gunlancers on several occasions in IB. It was glorious. The monsters couldn't even breath.

Regarding "mandatory" DPS skills... If idiots don't understand that skills like Evade Window, Earplugs, and Blight Resist can result in better DPS than Critical Eye, and kick players because of that, then you don't design the game around their foolishness. You mock them relentlessly until they learn!

the real irony is these meta cringe kids are needing people as uf they can't beat the monster themselves. like why try hard if you need 3 other players to beat it. they are that scared of the monster they think they need all this power from all players at that, so i assume they are children

I want gem skills to reflect the monster you hunted for them. This will allow some level of targeted farming and scaling with difficulty and variants of a monster. It'd also be more thematic ad a crystalization of a monster's energy.

I think at the very least, having them give skills per the type of monster would be great. This would be far easier for the developers to do I think, to have say bird wyverns give stamina type skills, flying wyverns give critical type skills, and carapaceans guarding type skills. They could pick specific for each monster, but I think it would be both easier for players to understand and for the developers to sync gem skills with monster type. There could even be an NPC in the game that drops hints in dialogue about it!

One thing I am worried about with wilds that I’d like to have cleared up has to do with farming a particular monster. If we have to rely on the monster forecast kind of like guiding lands/expeditions, will we still be able to farm the same monster consistently? Because in the guiding lands we needed to make a lure if we wanted to get one specific monster, and that can become frustrating if I want to build a whole set from one monster. Idk, we might have to wait until release to get that info though

Bowgun strength is that they have very little down time. The damage per hit is less then DB (in Sunbreak I could regularly get triple digits with DB), but you can attack for a greater percentage of the hunt.

Just thought I would mention this cuz I do think it's been mentioned. The heavy bowgun has a offset attack while in ignition mode and can power clash according to Capcom's weapon move list that they had for gamescom in assuming. Making it and greatsword the only two that I could see that can do both. Just letting you know man.

People are missing that weapons might not be overtuned, maybe the monsters are scaled for the new weapon moves. Also ranged weapons "have to be op" cuz they dont have many ranged weapons to choose from - some only want to play ranged , would be bad if they all were underwhelming. Just my opinion.

People who roast other people for off-meta builds can take a long walk off a short pier. If you can beat the monster in a reasonable time without carting too much your build is fine. Meta can go suck balls. If you kick me from a lobby for my build I don’t want to be in that lobby in the first place. Those are not the kind of players I want to be with.

Him mentioning the GL's new combo, that is one of the longer combos in the game now, having guard points too just makes me even more annoyed at the idea that CL is turning into a discount CB, There's the guard points, the fact that shelling now scales with raw, the fact that shelling doesn't use as much sharpness as a trade off anymore. It's like they went in and looked at everything shelling has that was unique and chose to remove all of it to make it more popular. At taht point, why am I not just using CB? That's the problem with a lot of these Wilds weapon changes, a lot of them dilute the weapons and seam to give them samey things. I hope I'm wrong but this is really bothering me with some weapons. Giving almost everything this the adept dodge/guard just feels lazy. Some of these things have traits on top that are unique to the weapons but in no way are they created equal. Just look at the 2 extremes of how much bow gets and lance just getting this pathetic shield bash where if you are playing lance correctly and taking advantage of its reach that will miss anyway, I'm still go9ing to play GL and CB but this is dumb. Of course, bow losing its identity with lacking stamina management and ammo management is just a buff because it's a favorite, not an abused child The issue with Rise was that it was a slave to the LS fetish, if the games become enslaved by the weapon popularity and they lose what makes them unique, in pursuit of being popular like the top weapons, then what the hell is hte point of having 14 weapons anymore? If they don't offer different play styles, unique traits, and their own experiences, why bother? Ryozo is cool like that. He doesn't act like a baby, demanding that his weapon be OP, it's the directors that do that and even if that means hammer is out shined by every weapon Ryozo is just chill. We need a council of 13 weapons to reign in the David Bowie like directors so the weapons are all shown love relatively evenly cause that's never happened.

26:33 perfect team comp is support sns, buffing horn, tanky GL, and dps (insert weapon). The best part is that unlike an MMO team that has the same components, all the aspects of this team would be able to deal damage

@@ashra2191 yes i have watched it, the helicopter is present but aerial vaulting (the ability to chain together helicopter attacks while staying in air) is not present in that video

@Rurikhan they did longer hunts in world with you grabbing tracks to track down the monster. You fought nergigante multiple times. Im down if its a siege type monster. But just following a Great Jagras across the world seems boring af.

On the skills, I definitely don't agree with having a book of skills will diversify builds. If we are already seeing everyone just run all attack, crit, and boosts, then we will only see all of that plus more. It won't cut down on the meta builds at all. It will only expand more into having more "mandatory" skills. Bring back negative skills with how weapons and armors are built now and you will definitely fix this. Each weapon and armor set will make people aim for different things. Focus on the attack and crit skills over these last few iterations has been far too much. People don't even take into account other skills because they "don't make number go bigger", even if it could mean more overall dps for some weapons, like earplugs and such.

1:04:40 Hard disagree with Paradise here. If you set the game up to make it possible to have all this skills active at the same time, you establish a power creep baseline. If you make it so that the more you build into those, the less skills overall can be in your build the more you create an environment where other builds can be effective because only max crit and crit boost is only really viable for like LS or GS when you don't get hit ever. Edit: imo there should be basically no pure dmg skills in a game ever.

Really hoping Capcom completely ignores Rurikhan on the "skill bloat" thing, it really just sounds like baseless boomerism. Having more skills is just more fun, both in-combat and in set building. I've never had more fun making builds than in end-game Sunbreak, especially with Qurious Crafting and the Title Update monster skills that fundamentally changed your playstyle much more significantly than other skills. It sounds to me like the real problem was World/Iceborne's poor skill balancing, which notoriously made crit builds the absolute king, with nothing else even worth bothering with. In Sunbreak you had lots of unique skills like Strife, Berserk, Frostcraft, Heaven Sent, Buildup Boost, and so on. And yet it didn't suffer the same problem Worldborne did of everybody just running max attack max crit - in fact, endgame Sunbreak had elemental damage as the top meta. The problem isn't the number of skills you're allowed to have, it's the ratio of high-value skills that are available to you in relation to how many skills you can have. You could have Wilds only let you have two maxed out skills total, but if the skills and weapons are poorly designed like Worldborne, every single person will still fill those two skills with Attack and Crit, while neglecting every other skill. The problem hasn't been solved. Meanwhile "skill bloat" like Sunbreak can give you pages upon pages of skills and still have people giving up the catch-all damage skills for things like Status Trigger, depending on the weapon.

you're listing things that sunbreak did differently but it's just the same shit, different skills. You're still grabbing all the crit, all the required things for your elemental damage, and maybe frostcraft to make it work. Just because it's elemental for the top damage meta doesn't mean there's any more variety in set building

​​​@@roar104Please read my comment before responding next time, thanks 👍 I already listed several skills that were playstyle-defining, competitively powerful, and could not be reliably put on every set nor easily mixed with each other. This completely solves the problem. You are wrong. Strife + Berserk sets were completely different from Mail of Hellfire sets which were completely different from Dragon Ascension sets which were completely different from Status Trigger + Buildup Boost sets which were completely different from Heaven Sent sets which were completely different from Wind Mantle Silkbind spam sets, etc. The problem was in fact solved. There was much more build variety. And that's not even mentioning how elemental sets inherently have more variety than World-style crit sets, since you had to make different weapons and work with their different properties for different monsters, or how some elements would need unique skills like Kushala Blessing or Dragon Ascenion.

Yeah he contradicted himself with the Elden Ring scenario, saying he wants to play what is fun and that challenges should be self imposed. A healthy amount of skills is more fun for more people, if you want challenge then run less skills. I want to run the obligatory damage skills plus some fun and comfy skills, not just one or the other.

@@rurikhan That's fine and all, but that doesn't inherently mean that concern is well-founded. I'd much rather argue this point on the merits than just appeal to popularity. Regardless of how a portion of your viewers may be concerned with the execution in Wilds, Sunbreak had both the most "skill bloat" and the highest build variety in the series. It's a clear demonstration that more skills does not mean less interesting armor builds.
