that can actually be a play like having your main horn have offensive + melody extending effects and your second horn be full utility soo all you have to do it set up all the utility buffs then set up main horn buffs and use the melody extend on the main horn to keep all the buffs rolling without having to constantly swap and reapply

In addition to SnS, I wanted to know about items to use with SnS. They showed off throwing Large Bombs but is there other niche "attack" Items. In world we had slinger bursts, in rise we had all the endemic life and Free aim throwing for Small bombs, poison bombs, and kunai. In Rise, Hopping skewer for bombardier was kinda hilarious tossing a stack of small bombs on a trapped monster for bonus damage. Really I'm just hoping "use item without sheathing" is as creative if not more so as in Monster Hunter World and Rise. Leaving it as you can drink a potion after getting hit like in the SnS overview is painful!

I made some theorycrafting on what the locales we haven't seen yet could be, assuming there's 5, and thought of some monsters that could return for each locale, tho this will definitely be mostly copium: For the Plains: Diablos (It's not really that I want Diablos back, it's that it never skips a game) and alongside it we always get a variant Tigrex Seregios (Tho Seregios is technically an invader and Rey Dau has very similar vibes, but you could just happen to get a quest that's literally "Hey so we saw Rey Dau in this place, but surprise! it's actually Seregios!) Scarlet Forest: Rajang (The monkey never skips a game so that ones is a given tbh) Seltas Queen (Perfect herd mechanic monster) Pukei-Pukei (I think pukei being another mushroom enjoyer would make for an interesting rivalry with Congalala, also I love it's armor) Shogun Ceanataur (Crab) Lagiacrus (500% copium, but at this point either they rework him or I really don't think we are ever going to see it again) 3rd zone: An underground map that's inside a volcano or a mountain ridge, it's special climate could be a heatwave caused by the volcanic activity or a cloud of spores released when tectonic activity causes vibrations on the ground, vibrations being of the many stimuli that can cause fungi to release spores For this map we could get: Agnaktor Rakna Kadaki (Mostly to have another spider) Alternatively: not one of the scorpions in Frontier, but getting a scorpion in mainline would be cool Dodogama 4th zone: This would be a tundra, the reasoning behind the 3rd zone being a cavern is so the mountain ridge actually protects the scarlet forest from the tundra's icy winds, making it possible for both maps to exists seamlessly, since going from a forest into a tundra would be hard to believe, even if there's another biome in between For this tundra we could get: Banbaro (I want the armor, yeah that's the only reason, I just want it's armor) Gammoth (Finally it's time to shine with the maps being gigantic) Blangonga (If you bring Rajang and Congalala you might as well bring all the monkeys back, also, herd mechanics) Zamtrios (He just cool) Goss Harag (He is the best monster in Rise if we ignore Primordial Malzeno) Zamtrios and Goss could also have a rivalry since their gimmicks are pretty much 2 sides of the same coin, Zamtrios creates an ice armor while Goss Harag creates ice weapons, so seeing them having a rivalry would actually be pretty dope imo Also I got NO IDEA how it's fight is, but Pokaradon from Frontier looks goofy and it's a fucking walrus, so I want it in the game, also it's armor looks so dumb I cannot help but LOVE IT and walrus have pretty fucking big herds, so there's that too 5th zone: This one I don't really know what it could be, something ancient ruins related or something like that, regardless it would be the zone where the cool guys (elders) hang out but obviously even in such a zone, there's gotta be regular monsters, but just to get it out of the way: Nergigante And yeah that's it I really don't know what the fuck else I want here ngl Other than that there's other monsters I'd like to see back, but dunno in which maps they would really fit: Malfestio, Najarala, Namielle, Ukanlos, Tetsucabra, Espinas... Most seems to just fit in the forest... Overall I really just want this game to be EXTREMELY diverse when it comes to monster types, world was mostly brute, flying and fanged wyverns, with stuff like fanged beasts only having ONE monster representing them, which is a shame cuz there's more monster categories than weapon types and I really want Capcom to use all those rigs they have been adding into the RE engine to make the best MH game they have done to date

My answers on the questions: Non-main weapon interest: I played Gunlance, Sword & Shield, and Hammer in Worlds/Iceborne, and Heavy Bowgun in Rise, obviously dabbling in a lot of weapons because... its MH of course you switch weapons non stop early on. I keep trying to learn Switch Axe, but this round I think Lance is the one that caught my attention the most so far, more use of the shield and I think Lance is going to take really good advantage of the new Focus Mode system and making the precision weapon more precise and deliberately precise at that. Hammer/Lance might be my starting pair, was really hard to get my mind off of the mid-air backflip uppercut that Olivia does during the Lala Barina reveal. Returning Monster: Tetsucabra or Gammoth. Though I'm okay if Cotton gets his wish and Duramboros returns, spinny club boy needs some screentime. Other thoughts: Power Clash/Perfect Guard, Offset Attacks, and Perfect Dodge: Seems to group weapons into categories, if the weapon has a block it falls into the Power Clash/Perfect Guard group, if the weapon is notably heavy Offset Attacks are added, if it's a light weapon Perfect Dodge seems to be their thing. Great Sword shows that it doesn't have to be 1 weapon to 1 special attack if a weapon can meet the rough thematic requirements for multiple of them. So if I were to speculate on the groupings... Power Clash: Great Sword, Sword and Shield, Lance, Gunlance, Charge Blade (SnS Mode), and Heavy Bowgun Offset Attack: Great Sword, Hammer, Switch Axe, Charge Blade (Axe Mode), and maybe Hunting Horn & Gunlance Perfect Dodge: Dual Blades, Long Sword, Bow, Light Bowgun, Insect Glaive, and maybe Sword and Shield & Hunting Horn

Other than the Raths (because they're basically the mascots) I don't want to see a single monster that was in both World and Rise. I'm really sick of seeing stuff like Deviljo, Kushala, Teostra, Bazel (sorry Ruri), Barioth, Anjananth, Tigrex, and Zinogre show up. If they only appeared in either game, then I'm fine with it. Stuff like Gore and Nergi still feel fun to fight. But if they want to bring back any of the heavily used monsters, I'll need a variation or something to avoid being bored.

This is kinda unrelated, but in the God Eater Games, you can issue your other party members to split off from the current location, it MIGHT split out the chasing monsters.... but I dont think you can issue direct nor -pseudodirect commands to the AI party members for this game

The difficulty by star really looks like the monster hunter now System with the scaling and rewards. Still super disappointed with the focus mode. At first they said It’s a gameplay mechanic that you don’t have to use. But then now They pretty much say 80% of new gameplay Is locked Behind It. Play focus mode or press x x x All Game until the end. Wish you would have acess to play the game without it aswell. I’m still Traumatized clutch clawing thin air over and over because It was forced on me

it doesn't look that bad, back then the idea of focus mode before we knew anything about it was that it was a lock on like Zelda or souls. but now we know it is a qol option to aim your attacks or different moves (sometimes, some weapons don't have any focus moves to ise besides the finisher) and you don't need to use it even to see if a body part is wounded for a focus finisher cause the hit numbers change visuals. there are other concerns but this isn't a wirebug over centralizing thing. sekret will be that problem

@@petercottantail7850 what’s wrong with the secret? Don’t see any concerns there at all. It doesn’t make anything less enjoyable . You can chose to hop on it . Sharpening was done across loading screens before or when the monster moves . For heavy sharpness use you even could use the doesn’t use sharpness skill after sharpening . And in arenas you always had a recall. So I only see a straight up improvement of game quality . And it’s not forced upon you, neither does it lock you out of the entire new to t game moves we are getting if you don’t use it. Also think focus mode way worse then wire bugs , in the end they even kept those and now called them hook slinger moves.

wdym? its just a way to aim attacks and use focus strike, the focus strikes are also super limited by 1 per each part so thats like 4-6 per fight you literally dont even have to use that because the weakened parts take more damage so wouldnt it be more beneficial to just keep attacking that normally and do more damage instead of breaking the part instantly? compare this to wirebugs and clutch claw which was absolutely neecsarry to actually do good, focus seems like an extra thing, most weapons wont even use it as jonno said sns doesnt need that aim, db also doesnt need it, the only weapons that id see use this is the gs to aim their charged slashes

This looks like an objectively better version of the clutch claw. I feel like while it may not be perfect, it’s probably way better because rather than taking you out of the normal combat loop like with the clutch claw, it’s instead integrated with the combat loop, which fixes the core issue I had with the claw in iceborne

All the "skill expression" stuff is nonsense, the only expression that matters is showing how the weapons are unique from one another with their own niches. The adept evades/perfect guards kind of kill that. "Screw you, everything's a counter weapon because LS is popular and we gave up on offering other play styles like Rise." Obvious hyperbole but the point stands. If I wanted every weapon to be a counter monkey I'd play Rise. The worry for some people is like we've had the 2 flavors of Monster Hunter and if Wilds goes too far into this swirl of mixing portable in with the numbered tittles then it'll just be "I want chocolate today." "No, that's not allowed. You are getting a swirl with the only 2 flavors we have and you will like it. No matter how much you prefer one or the other, know that we don't care." Hoping we avoid that. He mentioned attacking other monsters on a quest. That makes me wonder how the heck multi monster quest will work? Can you only get those in town? So you can't just make your own like 4 monster quest of 2 of monster A, 1 of monster B and 1 of monster C. That's a missed opportunity. It would be awesome to make our own quests like that.

A few years ago I thought up the idea of weapons in MH should each have some kind of unique abilitly/gimmick that's unique from every monster. Kind of like how Seregios weapons sharpen a bit after every roll. But I felt every monster's set of weapons should have it's own unique thing like Zinogre weapons build up a power meter over time and at full meter they visually burst with electricity and boost thunder element for a short time, or maybe sharpening Glavenus weapons would give it a fire element boost for a short time, or Mizutsune weapons build up a unique soap ailment on monsters that will eventually cause the monster to fall. I thought this was important because weapons lacked that interesting decision making that armor sets had. Armor was not just about looking at stats and resistances and comparing numbers. Choices were heavily influenced by the skills/set bonuses they gave, which made armor choices interesting. Weapons for the most part were just pretty straight forward picks that didn't do anything to encourage different choices. So it's so good to hear that weapons get a unique skill that will make weapon choices more interesting and varied. Unlocking a new armor set is always fun because they can potentially open up more build experimentation. Checking a new weapon out in the forge always lacked that excitement, but now it will no longer be the case.

the more I think about it the less it makes sence for lance to have increased agro, sure lance is good at blocking but it doesn't progress the fight for lance to block wouldn't it be better to have longsword get more counters, it just seems so wrong to me lance is not a good weapon to have the agro especially with perfect dodge being added to weapons too, every weapon should just have the same agro value and only be changeable with skills or great values with temporary buffs. I could say more but IDK if any would even read this... forcing lance into the least played role in any game is not healthy for the weapon let the player chose how they want to play the weapon

??? Lance is a fantastic weapon to have monster agro. most of its highest damage comes from counters and having the monster focus you is way more fun than poking it's ass as the hammer rolls all over the place.

Bro what, lance doesn't just use the shield to block, we have counters too. Lance wants to be glued to the monster, having increased aggro generation would make that so much smoother in group content. I stopped playing lance with friends because losing the monster's focus was goddamn annoying.

That was stolen by Longsword once world released, as Lance used to be the ONLY weapon that could counter pre 5th gen Main-series/team games. The counters and increased aggro are perfect for Lance, especially since they gave blocking weapons perfect guards, and counters from perfect guards. ​@@Tommyvang187 compared to the other weapons counter thrust isn't that strong in my experience, its more used for resetting thrust combos with cancel thrust or blocking during thrust combos so you don't have down time, for me lance is more about being able to stay on the monster constantly hitting it, I don't think lance shouldn't be usable as a tank weapon there is a single slot deco in rise that give the player more agro, I'm more of the though that every weapon should have equal agro so if someone wants to play dps lance they can and it doesn't take someone else in the team having to slot the agro deco.

Some should come back, but ngl I looked through the designs of all the monsters exclusive to frontiers and while some are genuinely cool, a vast majority I hate the designs of.

54:00 i genuinely DO believe that you hate the longsword and you offer tons of proof for it. if you consistently call a weapon bad, that it's easy to use and bad for the game you aren't "haha memeing" you're spreading a toxic message. i don't like LS, i think it's a terribly boring weapon, but I don't actively go around calling it bad

@@Tommyvang187 the severity has nothing to do with whether or not it's toxic. making fun of another weapon and the playerbase whenever a non LS main is a guest is toxic. no matter how you look at it. the fact he doesn't make the same fun about it when he has guests is telling

@@coycen nah bro, ive seen him make fun of it with other monster hunter creators, these however are official capcom community managers, not the same thing. 100% if people just learned to grow some skin, this would be a non issue. Its like not being able to take a jab/joke or banter, this is the internet bro, just get over it, its a place of discussion where anything goes, as soon as anyone says anything about any weapon, apparently now its toxic.
