I watched this video countless times when it was broadcast. Mostly very late at night with the sound low so I didn't wake anyone. I would scour TV guide looking for it and plan accordingly. The first concert I ever saw was Rush during the Permanent Waves tour. It was epic! They opened with the entire album side of 2112 and it blew my mind! I saw Rush again during the Moving Pictures tour.....again...it was epic! I remember Neil playing the entire stage during his drum solo....he played the mic stands, the speaker cabs, the amp heads.......it was one of the wildest drum solos I ever saw. RIP Neil, you were one of the best drummers in rock history. Alex and Geddy are living legends. Geddy Lee is the only bass player I ever saw who could play effects pedals with one foot, play keys with one hand, play open strings on his bass and sing...at the same time! Alex's guitar work, speaks for itself....he's a monster. There will never be another Rush!

#ThankGedItsFriday!! By Tor & The Snow Dog, the song in 1975 that made this then 11 year old Canadian fangirl LOVE RUSH and it was that February on a cold, white and wintery afternoon when I first listened to Fly By Night I declared RUSH my favourite band. And fancy this! Reading RUSH In The 70s by Martin Popoff, I learned the day before yesterday something new to me, that the Fly By Night record was, as quoted by Terry Brown, " We made Fly By Night in twenty-one days, from the very beginning when they [Alex, Geddy and Neil] walked into the studio to when they walked out and Vic picked up the Masters. That's pretty damned quick". As a fangirl for 50 years, that's a definitive "RUSH sighting". Thank you from your friendly neighbourhood RUSH 2112 chick!

@TheErik2494 күн бұрын
@russellpanken On the permanent waves tour, they did the same amount of Bytor and the snow dog as they did on the moving pictures tour. They actually started doing this type of medley thing on the farewell to Kings tour. They have so many long instrumental songs that they couldn't possibly fit them into an entire show. But then again, Led Zeppelin was doing 3 1/2 hour shows on their Physical Graffiti tour. Jimmy Page would spend 30 minutes doing one solo. John Bonham did 30-minute drum solos. John Paul Jones was doing 30-minute synthesizer solos.

I find it bizarre that there's no B-roll of any of this. It's like they took all the tape, made this and then tossed all the extra with no foresight. But apparently, that's exactly what they did. Also, never understood why they used the 'pentagram-style' star (with the lines crossing, also I know it's not a pentagram, just gives the essence of one) when their 2112 logo is an open/unobstructed star.

I’m not big on medleys, but this worked great! If you are only going to play a piece of 2112 that was certainly the way to do it. I LOVE Bytor and the Snow Dog and In the End. The only thing that might have made this better would be figuring out a way to include the Necromancer. But it feels sacrilegious to suggest such a thing to the masters.
