The first album I bought at 7 years old was the original Rush album. Every song on that record is awesome.

Why doesn't this collection have more views? It's awesome to see them in their early career on DKRH!
@thegreatdivide868411 ай бұрын
Probably because of You Tube's algorithms. Not to mention it's copyright protected material which I think it's utter bs from the media conglomerate the concert footage is tied to. It's the fans that lose in the end.

@@thegreatdivide8684A special thanks goes out to you for sharing this wonderful piece of musicality with Us all. Had it never been for a 9 yr old kid stuck out in the Midwest with nothing but a stereo, an album and a used guitar my cousin’s friend left behind? I wouldn’t have learned Side One of this Lp ( by ear mind you!😢 nor would I have had a career in that filthy industry known as the music business and after all of my 44 years of touring and recording whatever I wrote during said tours (13) ? I never would’ve gotten the opportunity to be playing every single thing from Aerosmith to ZZ Top before they’d gone all MYV selling their souls ffsakes. Nonetheless. Thanks 🙏🏻 again my friend. Truly appreciated by yours truly!! Sincerely, DJP Anal Cunt; Postmortem and Kilslug Sony; Earache 🇬🇧 Columbia and TAANG!! I’m sorry you didn’t get to see them in their prime with albums like 2112; Kings; Hemispheres or even ( my favourite one ☝️ Permanent Waves whereas the rest of the world started catching on just how amazing they truly were.1980 both nights in the Boston Garden and a year later on their Exit: Stage Left Tour. The last time I saw them was when they had announced it was their final Tour aka 2015 June at the Garden ( TB Bank North my arse!) it’ll always be the Boston Garden to Me. I really hope you seen it, because during this particular show they had all of the props set up and counted down from their last album until they hit their debut and the reason why they’re so clever; is because the guys who were taking away the props were dressed up as the guys on the cover of Moving Pictures totally in those red coveralls 😂by the 2 nd half it’d been from Signals- Rush! Anyway, it was quite a sight seeing both Ged and Alex playing together with the very first guitar/ bass that they ever purchased; not to mention their finale being a 3 in one ☝️ 😅 Working Man/ Finding My Way/ In The Mood and the last one was What You’re Doing ( obviously because of The Professor’s kit being what it’s always been.? This had just his vibra slap/ chimes/ gong taken from the other drums and all 3 of them were laughing their asses off at the absurdity of being reduced to that special little act from Canada which would take the whole world by storm.. and they certainly did. Didn’t they ❤ Sincerely believe had this kid not been stuck out in North Dakota ( where there was absolutely nothing to do except watch the wheat grow or..)9 years old and figuring out Side One of 2112 by ear at the beginning of the Summer and ending up doing La Villa Strangiato! I owe them my entire career. RIP 🪦 Professor. Yes, YOU are most definitely missed by millions of your family; friends + fellow musicians. Thankfully yours, DJP A.C; Postmortem and Kilslug Sony; Earache 🇬🇧 Columbia and TAANG!! Records @ ALL RIGHTS RESERVED by copyright infringement laws worldwide via Boston Massachusetts Amerikkka quite obvious by this point!

I remember watching this the night it aired on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert, Xanadu became my favorite song by Rush that night. Something magical, and haunting about the song.
@togue777Ай бұрын
I was a senior in high school and I traded shifts with a friend at the restaurant where I was working so I could see Farewell to Kings and Xanadu on Don Kirshner. I loved the clip of Alex playing classical guitar in front of the castle. I for one loved the whole "prophetic robes" period.

Neil was such a perfectionist. I saw Rush 4 or 5 times. After the first show (which was soon after 2112 was released) I *ALWAYS* bought tickets in the balcony slightly behind the band. The great things about those seats? They were some of the last to sell, were usually cheaper and I almost always got in the front row where I could lean against the brass safety rail. _But the BEST thing?_ I was able to get a 'birds eye view' of Neil Peart working away with his *HUGE* drum set. Every time I think about him being gone, my eyes well up. *R.I.P. brother!*

I saw Rush at St. John’s Arena in 1980 and I PREFERRED the style of their 1st 5 albums to their “techno pop” sound that started around Moving Pictures. (Geddy was off stage-left, watching.38 Special (their opening act) when me and my buddy yelled GEDDY!! He turned around, smiled, and gave us a 👍🏼! 😂
@deanpesaturo640126 күн бұрын
I’d say from the debut up until the Moving Pictures release; however there being a good reason why they moved into this totally new direction ( which I understand Neil being an actual professor of physics etc until he worked in his father’s hardware store and was rescued by both Alex and Ged? I’m sorry 😞 I couldn’t get over the mullets! They’ve always gotten shite for their first album sounding like Zeppelin meets Cream; however they have some great music in that regard which don’t forget also put them on the map with that radio station playing Working Man up in Wisconsin for their bathroom breaks; smoking; eating etc. It just happened to be the last song at over 8:00 minutes long and they could’ve very easily picked Here Again from Side One ☝️ and We might’ve never been exposed to the amazingly proficient artists whatsoever? Imagine that. I owe my career to learning how to play 2112 by ear when I was a 9 yr. old kid and by the end of my Summer out in the Dakotas? La Villa Strangiato! RIP Neil 🪦 You are certainly missed! Sincerely yours, DJP

Alex liefson the most underrated guitar player ever !!
@davep82212 ай бұрын
Agreed. He had to keep the sound full, and with the other two basically soloing all the time, there was nothing else he could do. IMO, he is the sound of Rush. There's an interview "out there" with Geddy saying basically the same thing. There was in interview during the "Geddy Lee, with backup band Rush" era, where Alex said that during that period he got to "work on his rhythm playing." How Canadian.

There's a "live in studio" performance of this. 100% live, just in the studio. Very nice, because the quality is amazing. There's one for _La Villa Strangiato._ There's a few more. It's very cool to see them up close a clear. Just sitting in a chair playing _2112._

The story of how _2112_ came about after the disastrous _Caress if Steel_ album and tour is incredible. They called it _The Down the Tubes Tour._ After they made _2112,_ the guy at the label said, "this is exactly what we didn't want." But it worked out. It's on a documentary that I can't remember the name of.

It’d been their parents wedding song since before the band was ever formed! lol Henceforth the inclusion.? Ged’s parents were in a concentration camp ffsakes. People shouldn’t be allowed to add anything they’re not aware of. Yeah, that’s the reason. Got it? Ok good!!
