As soon as that beautiful 7/4 drum beat quietly fills the back ground from Peart we're treated to one of the most, emotive, and soulful guitar solos ever layed down by any axe man. Lifeson just pours it out from his heart. Then Lee puts in a thunderous bass solo just to let you know he's there and then Lifeson rips again with a comedic brilliantly played solo as if it's nothing to him. All the time Peart is blisteringly holding the time with the precision of an atomic clock while maintaining the feel of a babies bottom.

La Villa Strangiato in Cleveland is one of my favorite Rush concert videos. Virtuosity throughout. Drums are as musical and melodic as the bass and guitar, essentially an 8 minute drum solo, guitar solo and bass solo all fitting perfectly together. Extremely tight with each other on the rapid, rhythmically complex parts. “How do three guys make so much sound?” They pass the lead voice around among them while the other two embellish without getting in the way. Every part of the song builds musically and emotionally into the next. The frequent time signature changes, variation of instrumentation and timbres are each there for a reason, building and releasing musical tension. They start by pranking their fans with a goofy, circusy tune. At 1:00 you can hear the audience slowly get that they are morphing into this 30-year old instrumental suite. They take their musicianship seriously, but they don’t take themselves seriously. Beautiful guitar solo, ethereally floating at 2:40, building to a scream at 3:30, absolutely shredding by 3:50, all in 7/8. Typical Rush concert air drumming at 6:45 by all the amateur musicians in the audience who really get how hard it is to be that good. Geddy drawing a smile out of Neil at 7:10 is heart-warming on a day like today. Neil was always serious on stage - he compared drumming a 3-hour Rush concert to running a marathon while solving differential equations in your head. Tragically losing his wife and daughter turned him even more somber on stage, and you often see Geddy and Alex finding a chance to get him to laugh. Three elite musicians who stayed good friends through forty years of touring and crafting music together is an amazing accomplishment in itself.

How disappointed we were when we got to the end and missed our Hollywood moment. When the original drummer left and Neil Peart came in , they knewthat they were destined for greatness. With hard work and straight forward thinking they forged a band like no other. With 8 platinum albums in a row, they did more by doinig this then any other band or artist ever.. Sad thought, they have never been recognized for this achievement..It’s because they are Canadian

A beautiful sonic portrait of human imagination ... this song is lush and expansive. I love the fun they have with this song here ... Alex's soloing is so broad and poignant yet feels so free ... amazing song ... LOVE THE RUSH!!!

If you have watched the Rush documentary, you'll know that this song almost broke them... and now to watch them play it with ease and great joy is just a thing of beauty. Thanks fellers...

What a massive sound from only 3 guys. It sounds like a 10 man music production. HUGE! Took my boy to this tour and the snakes & arrows here in Vancouver. So good passing down the tunes to a younger generation.

If Mozart comes through time, this is one of the songs I'd play for him to show off how good music could be today.

If I have ever seen a befitting tribute to Cleveland Ohio this is it. After all it was a DJ from Cleveland who played "RUSH - Working Man" many years ago who helped RUSH to take the international stage by storm. Thank You Cleveland from one great full Canadian. From New Brunswick Canada we love you guys too.

I'm in a 3-piece. We are all in our late 50's. Our repertoire is Spirit of Radio, La Villa Strangiato, and side one of Moving Pictures. La Villa is by far the most challenging to play. This is the video we are watching in an attempt to master this Rush classic. So fortunate that our generation was blessed to have Rush on our turntables when we were kids. What a band.

I'll always have love for Cleveland. They were the first American city to embrace Rush.

Watch the way the lights and the girders move above them. This is rare footage of when the Transformers attacked a Rush concert. Rush, of course, emerged victorious.

@mrdarklight: “…Rush, of course, emerged victorious.” Thank the gods for that - The Body Electric is about as much dystopian androids as I’d want around Rush. Robots are dangerous, kids…

Come on stop and listen... this is just some sick playing. Not just talent, it's mathemathics, engineering and well.... wholeness. King Crimson managed to capture moments of the same occasionally... but this is 8 minutes of... wholeness. Can't describe it any better.
