To illustrate how far we have fallen as a society, notice how the banter between Donahue (a clear “liberal” of the era) and Rush never gets too angry, despite Donahue’s occasional snarky jabs (to be fair, Rush gave him some good jabs as well). Also, the audience politely allows their conversation to manifest without yelling and screaming. Lastly, no one tried to boycott and cancel Donahue after the airing of the show. Today, in 2021, this type of episode would never happen. If Donahue had a show today, he would be terrified of Twitter mobs canceling him for even having Rush on his show and giving him a platform. My how times have changed (for the worse!)

Steve , Donahue was a pioneer in Television for shows like Jerry Springer and Maury Povich not to mention Morton Downey Jr. , more freak show than Communication .

@@timothyantoine5321 all of those guys had a setting with guests, an audience and all the shiny objects a television production provides. They also benefitted from a much larger television audience. Rush was one man just speaking his mind on AM radio and ran circles around those guys for 30 years.

RUSH was only a Master of his own agenda. Couldn't even finish college or pass an exam if his life depended on it SO he stayed in radio. Apparently you know ZERO history on Donahue. King of Day Time Talk Shows that lead the way for Oprah. He was no dumb ass Jerry Springer. Donahue began in radio too.
