Thank you for posting this. Rush IMO in his early years from 1988 to 1996 was not simply revolutionary in transforming talk radio, he was also at his most innovative and there isn't enough out there that shows Rush in this period. In later years, Rush was still influential but more reacting to news and commenting on it than being innovative with spots like the Homeless Update etc. I would love to find more examples of him from that 88-96 period.

Most people don't, honestly. His popular history dates back primarily to launching Z100 and taking it from worst to first immediately, then flopping in LA and, later, being at PLJ and CBS FM for the last 30 years.

It is pretty interesting, though, when you realize how much of a career Scott had before NY. He absolutely honed his craft throughout the south.

So, on the very first day of Scott Shannon launching a new station with a 25-44 female target demographic, Rush Limbaugh went into a "feminazi" tirade. That look in Scott's eyes at around the 9:45 mark says it all. Rush was a smart enough radio guy to know who his audience was, as evidenced by the way he played to that audience remarkably well. You'd think he would have used the same intelligence and common sense to understand who Scott's audience was... and, as a professional courtesy to Scott, not offend them.
