@Eric I didn't get to see them live. I had the chance in 2012 and I messed up. They played in Indianapolis. I was living just south of there. I know Alex and Ged will do something together. It'll be awesome but bitter sweet without Neil. Just have to patiently wait. I wonder what other collaborations they will do in the future.

I saw this at the Spirit of Airwaves recording, the bootleg concert recording front row February 13th in St. Louis. Sat 15 away from Geddy and it was SO epic. The set list was their best ever and all 3 were as good as they could ever be. Those 4 front row tickets cost me 35 dollars with a 50 cent handling charge per ticket. I got those tickets by being the first caller to reach Dial-Tix when lines opened at 10am. This would not have happened if not for my mom letting me skip school to do so. By far my best concert ever

I was at this very show with my girlfriend (now wife) - it was her first exposure to Rush (my first time live). Was totally blown away at the sound these 3 guys made! This was a show beyond anything we had seen prior, and serves as near tops of anything since! Seeing 2112 in entirety that night was something special, so was this song...The entire setlist, mixed with the atmosphere of the night (warm summer breeze coming off of Lake Ontario, the laser lights as the sun went down, the clouds of pot smoke, and these hometown boys) made for an experience like no other!!

Lucky you! The more I see of this show, the more I hope that someday they'll release a DVD of the entire show. Although it's hard to be definitive on a band who were such unrelenting perfectionists, I don't think they ever looked or sounded better. Not sure why it is coming out in bits and pieces. I believe the first half hour or so was a bonus on the R40 boxset, and then a couple more songs were on the bonus bonus R40 disc. Don't get me started on the R40 box, which I never bought, because it was asking a lot of those of us who already owned the other DVD's, to buy them again for the sake of a single bonus disc. And then I can only imagine the feelings of those fans who forked out for the R40, only to find out that there was a bonus bonus disc, which they didn't get unless they ordered it from the Backstage club. But then, I might get started......... oops too late.

I’ve seen a video where he put the bass pedal through the drum skin. That should be impossible. They are designed very carefully and I can assure you that an incredible amount of years and research went into drums we know today. I met the man credited for developing them at my daughter’s music school in Boston. It is the oldest music school in America. This must be the ultimate prog metal song. Not sure Rush have ever bettered this, but then who has? The stunning power of it, the contrasts, the seamless shifting between weird time signatures, and of course the portentous, rather alienated lyric, all add up to something greater than the sum of its parts.

This song is from Rush's very best album. Every song is good. Its such a perfect combination of strong guitar riffs, excellent songs, perfectly produced. Its that perfect combination of early Rush meets "pop" Rush.

nEIL pEART the greatest drummer, lyricist, and creative artist in our times. Ya know I can really sympathize with Neil when he told the band he just didn't have the energy to do it anymore because he was battling cancer and being a drummer takes alot more physical energy than the rest of the band needed on an almost daily basis. RIP PROFFESSOR

Neil had a summer home not too far from Le Studio in the Larentian mountains in southern Quebec. He named a small rock island (1 of four that were on the lake) he had bought in the after years as a memento for his love of that mystical place he so loved. He named it "science island". He took his second daughter Olivia to that island to teach her about nature and natural science. RIP Neil you were an educator and professor to world.

In over 50 concerts I've seen, my very favorite moment of them all was this song, 1981, the fog machine was full blast with the magenta and green colored lights, and Alex Lifeson playing the 2nd guitar solo with his head cocked slightly to one side surrounded by the curling fog all lit up by spotlights, in his red dinner jacket, playing his blonde ES-345. That does it for me.
