Straight to the high point in this video: Lifeson's solo in Soliloquy at 11:07. Wow. By far the best version of this solo I've seen or heard. He's totally in the zone, letting loose, and improvising in ways that elevate this even beyond the studio take, putting his full body into it. It's one of those transcendent moments that truly puts the "live" in live music. It's not often cited as a favorite Lifeson solo (La Villa, Freewill, etc.), but it's one among many of Lifeson's deeper solo tracks that blows the mind upon a closer, active listen. Even on the original studio cut, the deep tone, prolonged bends, pinched harmonics, wailing and mournful ups and downs.... an incredibly expressive piece that perfectly conveys the longing despair in the lyrics. Lifeson's a true musical genius.

This tour was easily my favorite Rush concert. The night I saw them the sound was phenomenal (kudos to their sound engineer) and Geddy was on it, just shrieking his lungs out. Front to back an outstanding concert but when 2112 started everyones arms shot up and the roar was deafening, one of those "holy shit, it's really going to happen. I saw this show May 26, 1997. This video is from Toronto 1 month after i saw them but this is the same "show" I saw. Me and my sister flew from Maine to Washington state to see this concert at the Gorge Amphitheater with family that lived out there. In '97, there was no social media so we didn't know what to expect from this concert other than the stuff they'd obviously play and stuff from the new T4E album. This is the tour where they pulled "Natural Science" out of the vault and we nearly shit ourselves when Alex started with the acoustic riff. The crowd went nuts!! But when they kicked into the start of 2112, we all shit ourselves again but we had ZERO clue they were going to do the entire 2112 story before eyes. 25 of the greatest minutes of my life spent at that venue in the Columbia River Basin as they banged off the entire side one of 2112. We were hammered but man we were coherent enough to know we were witnessing what was probably the greatest Rush concert ever since before the R30 in Rio, this crowd at the Gorge was the biggest audience Rush had ever performed for in their history. While the R40 farewell concert in Boston was one of the best Rush shows I ever saw, it still was second to the T4E Tour 1997. I will never ever ever forget that as long I am breathing.

I was at this very show with my girlfriend (now wife), and could not believe they were playing 2112 in entirety! The atmosphere of the evening couldn't have been more perfect - warm summer breeze coming off of Lake Ontario, sun was going down (beautiful twilight haze), laser lights, clouds of pot smoke and these 3 guys from Toronto, just kicking our asses - it was one of the most magical, profound experiences I've had at a concert!! Never forget that night! This song was the end of the 1st set - needless to say, we needed an intermission after this!!

So glad that Oracle: The Dream is played here. They always seemed to skip that chapter live more often than not.

I still have my Vinyl 2112 LP from when I was a kid. My mom brought me to Tower Records to buy it when it first came out. I have 2 other copies that are in much better shape but I like listening to the older LP because of all the pops the needle picks up brings me back to the 70s and 80s.

I’ve been following and watching Rush since the 70’s. We have lost a true legend. There will never be another Neil Peart.
