Thanks!! Believe me: The show in São Paulo was even more powerfull. São Paulo had its moments. The Crowd reaction on YYZ was equal in energy. Now, imagine this: the entire Crowd singing along with Geddy: BIIG MONEY.....GOOOOT NOOOO SOOOOULLLLL. The band decided to film the Show in Rio after the reception they had in São Paulo. Their Rio show is arguably one of their greatest performances. They explained in later interviews that the energy of the crowd was just amazing and it had an amazing effect on their playing. Just watch their performance of YYZ, after nothing but a couple of high hat hits the audience is going crazy because they recognize the song, then they sang along with it, and it's an instrumental, just awesome.

I was at this show. Rio is 1200 Km far from where I live - and that was part of the fun. One of the brothers who was there with me kept promising he would fall down on his knees when RUSH rendered Tom Sawyer. He actually did that. My only surprise was he wasn't the only one doing that: I saw dozens doing the same. No video I've seen shows that. But I was lucky enough to see with my own eyes. Those lads were all weeping. Never again a rock show could reach that height for me.

I used to watch the 2003 Rush in Rio DVD at home with my dad when i was like 6 or 7 years old, back in '08 or '09. Loved it. My dad's been a pretty hard Rush fan since hearing them for the first time ever as a teenager, the album in question was Grace Under Pressure from 1984. That album blew his mind back then. I re-discovered Rush back in the summer of 2017 or 2018, and been listening to Rush A LOT since then. I almost forgot that i listened to them via watching the Rio gig DVD as a kid. Too damn bad they had to quit after R40 in 2015, and i'm still really sad about Neil Peart being gone, (but never EVER forgotten) but also happy for him because now he gets to jam with his idols and inspirerers up there in the clouds. I bet he's having a damn good time with John Bonham, Buddy Rich, Mitch Mitchell and many other drummers that he always admired. My biggest dream come true would be to some day meet Geddy and Alex live in person. They are the nicest people in rock music ever. Rush proved that you don't need to abuse drugs and alcohol to make some true kick-ass rock music.
