Brilliant, Dustin Gee was just naturally funny...a great comic and Jeffrey Hollands so underrated. Thanks for posting, very funny.

Nice to be able to reflect on old comedy and how it still works.

Classic! There was me being a sad sod looking for the Spinners and I found this.
@ajivins19 жыл бұрын
I always remembered this one though I only remember the Spinners from that 'Give Blood' advert. Russ did a great Psychiatrist/drumming sketch with the late, great Roy Castle too. His Noel Cowerd was great, too.

I was looking for the "original" little boxes and came across this one. Now this is funny. There are so many things I've missed and learned from people on KZbin. Every day's a school day!

Omg me too! I didn't think sketches/parodies could have that effect on you xD the lines about "ancient! really past it and should be put out to grass" "and I've got the whitest smile of all! :D" just crack me up every time they are pure genius :) I keep coming back to rewatch this video ha

I remember going to the theatre in Oxford in the early 80's when I was a kid and seeing Russ Abbott's mad house it was so funny.think it might have been near Christmas.

This is an absolute classic...I remember e-mailing you years ago about this clip...so pleased you posted it. Brilliant, particularly for people that actually REMEMBER The Spinners. Love the line '....and I'm big and do the talking cos I can't play anything'....and it was so true...!

Funny because it is so accurate. Forgot how much fun madhouse was from when I was a kid. Russ, Les and all the others became naff and old fashioned when I got into my teens and Rik Mayall and co came along. All of these performers were great and I cannot think of many comedies which were on early teatime and were watched by families. Apart from Dustin being blacked up, this has stood the test of time. Glad Russ is back on TV, despite it being in a very dull comedy.

Like the other commentators, I heard this sketch once, and have been singing it for, what, 25 years now? 30? Just from one hearing. That's genius writing. Thank you, thank you for posting.

Brought up on stuff like this and it's great, there's absolutely nothing like it now. Is it Jeffrey Holland, Dustin Gee, Russ Abbott and Les Dennis from left to right?

very very funny. i have waited for years for this to be posted

Can't believe it's almost 34 years since we lost Dustin Gee.

It’s clearly quite an affectionate parody...the harmonies are dead-on for what’s meant as a throwaway gag. Russ is the only pro there but Dustin, Les and Jeffrey are not exactly amateur either 😂

Brilliant! Haven't heard this since the year it was on. For some ooooh soooo strange reason, it wasn't even included in the "Best of..." at the end of the series. Several far weaker/less funny songs were favoured instead.

The guy in the pink sweater looks like Sean from Corrie, blacked up. He sounds a bit like him too.

+Luke Bellman Not folk, show band playing stuff like 'Live and Let Die' and 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' with Clive Jones on lead vocals (excellent singer).

thankyou for posting. i remember the show doing a very funny parody of the then popular game show 'name that tune' in which contestants would try to name a well known song or tune having heard only a opening few notes'...except in russ's show it was called 'name that gag' and contestants would try to name well known jokes after having heard only the opening words.....was very funny...as some contestants in the spoof named gags after just hearing one word...which was usually 'this'.....
