Nice Reid engine. I’ve owned a few. Love it running on the hot tube.

There is a lot to see on a Reid Engine, of what I could see it looks original and even the pipe fittings look original, different than what is made today fitting wise. Regardless the engine is worth a few bucks especially complete way it is there. You would be stunned at how much the fittings are worth alone. Look into getting a “lollipop” for the charging cylinder rod. You can find them online as reproductions with bolt and that would save a fair amount of lubing of the side rod bearing.

I hope this complete assembly is kept and preserved exactly as is for enthusiasts to see. There must have been thousands such rigs just scrapped and bulldozed away?

Question, what is the secondary piston on the side? Is that acting like a boost pump presserizing the intake?
@misner34853 жыл бұрын
This engine is a 2 stroke, the cylinder with the outside con rod is the scavenge air pump. Check out Reid oilfield engines.

what makes this and oil well? where is (time stamp) a pipe with oil being pumped out of it.
@DereksGarage3 жыл бұрын
NO where did the description claim to be an oil well. it claimed to be an oil well pump jack. Which is exactly what it is.
