I wanted something light weight and capable of cutting. This little string trimmer is just that kzbin.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . The battery will last about half an hour. It cuts through most weeds and grass. I wanted to see what this trimmer could do and tried cutting down some brush. It does okay with light brush but heavy brush, not so much. This is a great tool for trimming around the yard. It's not great for clearing out brush but no one would expect it to be.Out of the box, this trimmer is extremely easy to use. All I had to do was attach the guard and load the battery.

Russell Platten - I ordered the 35cc VersAttach system recently, but I probably overbought. Your video definitively demonstrates that the 25cc powerhead has more than ample power for heavy work. It’s also lighter weight, with a smaller form factor. You live and learn, I suppose.

An excellent machine sadly let down by its hopeless instruction manual. Mine came configured as a strimmer and little information on swapping to the brushcutter blade. Luckily another vid on YT clarified this. I took your advice and ordered an Oregon cutting blade. I like your your up and down technique which reduces the brush to manageable bits. Thanks again.

Thanks for the video! I had the intention of buying this model, but the dealer suggested the versatool trimmer. TYpe UMC 435. On this model you can put not only brushcutter things but also weedblower and hedge trimming devices. The base (motor only) was a bit more money to spend but has more different tools in one.

I tried this Oregon blade on my 35 cc 4-stroke Honda (U.S. model) and here are my observations: 1. interferes with the blade guard so I had to remove it (it's a useless, tiny one on this model Honda anyway), 2. notice a bit of mid-rpm vibration with goes away at full rpm, 3. kinda spooky running the thing with no blade guard of any kind, although it's unlikely the plastic one that come with the brush cutter will stop a catastrophic failure of the blade, besides being too small in diameter to contain any shrapnel anyway. My Makita 43 cc 4-stroke (which is a way better engineered tool (besides being a beast!)) does have a blade guard that will house a 12" blade though. But this Oregon blade works way better than the 4-tooth brush blade I had on the Honda. Trims grass better and will pulverize thick weeds and bramble. The 35 cc 4-stroke has no problem bringing the 4 mm blade up to speed, and due to the momentum of the heavy blade, I can use part throttle for most of my cutting.

Thank you for your video, lovely made! Isn't that possible to mulch with the Honda blade, why is it easier to work with te Oregon one?
@RussellPlatten
@RussellPlatten 6 жыл бұрын
The Honda blade does not do a very good job of mulching because it is just a horizontal blade. The Oregon blade cuts both horizontally and vertically so it chops up the brush as it is cutting it making it much better at mulching. Instead of long lengths of cut up brush, it produces short lengths. The blade is way more effective than the Honda one. :-)

I learned sadly that you can indeed go wrong with Honda and my water pump based upon the same power-head was the very thing to teach me the lesson. Engine problems/poor oiling system and badly threaded pump housing have caused me no end of headaches trying to use it to pump clean rain water from one tank to another with virtually no head lift. Sad as I always thought like you regarding Honda. For my upcoming brush trimmer purchase it will likely be a Stihl.

Hi Russ. I wanted to ask if the carburetor on the Honda has adjustment screws on it? I'm asking because I have a 2-stroke Oleo Mac petrol/strimmer and has been an absolute nightmare to start since I bought it. It is my first petrol strimmer and I was a bit naive when I bought it. I've stripped the cab down and cleaned it I don't know how many times trying to get it going but it hasn't got any adjustment screws only an idol. I've even used Aspen 2 ethanol free fuel to see if that works to no avail. I'm going to get rid of it and buy a Honda. Does the 4 stroke engine have less trouble than a 2 stroke? Excellent video.

@@PescatoreFocoso I don't think it's any better just better suited for brush cutting, that blade doesnt stop once it's going on the 35cc. The 25cc is better on fuel. I like both my Honda machines been very happy 👍. I think Russel should treat himself to the 35cc he won't look back 🤣😂.

@@chucky2316 I hope you can tell me if there is much difference in the weight of the 25cc versus the 35cc and would the 25cc cut though Olearia Traversii hedging? I am trying to decide if I should buy the 25cc Honda VersAttach or the 35cc VersAttach. (Using the line strimmer and the hedge trimmer). I only have light grass strimming around the edge of my garden to do weekly which I am sure a 25cc would be well capable of doing judging by the this very good video. In terms of hedge trimming I need to trim about 35 metres long x 2 metres high (115ft long x 6ft high) of Olearia Traversii hedge 2 to 3 times per year. I think the 25cc would be lighter to use for the tricker parts of the hedge as it usually takes me about 1 hour to cut both sides with my current 52cc 2 stroke multi tool hedge trimmer/ strimmer which is heavy enough. My concern is would the 25cc be strong enough to cut through the light twigs of Olearia Traversii hedging? I am 40 years old and have an old sports shoulder/neck injury and I am trying to go with the lightest option that gets both jobs done. The 35cc is probably lighter than my current 52cc 2 stroke but if the 25cc can get both jobs done I would choose that as it is the lighter of the two.

I’ve got the 425 and 435 and have used both professionally for 2 years, no problems whatsoever. I sometimes have to use a Stihl KM130 4-mix as the customer insists on me using their kit! I hate it, it’s noisy, smelly, and temperamental when it gets hot. The only advantage the 2-stroke kit has over 4-stroke is it’s lighter weight. I’ll never buy another piece of 2-strike again.
@RussellPlatten
@RussellPlatten 6 жыл бұрын
I agree, 4 stroke engines are so much easier. No need to carry 2 stroke oil and mixing bottles. Much less noise, cleaner exhaust and in the case of Honda 4 stroke engines, easier to start. I will never buy a 2 stroke trimmer again either! Thanks for your comment, it is good to get a professional's opinion on the 425. :-)

@@dailystruggle2762 yes and I own the 25 and 35 cc Honda Versatools. Plenty of power and torque with both. Which 2-stroke were you comparing this engine to? All of them? I was just curious as to if you’d used the engine? A crap 2-stroke would perform badly, so it’s not as simple as 2-stroke vs. 4-stroke..
