Nah. I go to the most premium gym in my city that is the size of Houston. They have a sauna, spa, better air conditioning, heavier dumbbells than this, more cardio machines, more fixed machines like the leg press/chest press, more cable machines, outdoor crossfit-type area, yoga/team workout space for courses. And it is half of the subscription price you mentioned.

@@MichaelAveryMusic yeah, but I do want to admit that my gym doesn't have calibrated plates, they are from Eleiko, but generic Chinese compact rubber plates. I'm also in Europe so the membership might be cheaper here than it is in US.

@@Lars16 Bigger gyms are often much cheaper. They rely on a huge % of the base to not even attend the gym, and then can use that as a cushion for profit margin. A serious gym is always much more expensive since more members actually attend. Similar to pure muscle, but smaller, similar to ufc gyms, but more budgeted. Best equipment, great lighting, a positive atmosphere. Setting the budget at $500,000, realistically could to it a lot less because a majority of the construction of the building I could do myself. I'd probably stay away from custom made stuff, weights get thrown around, chipped, cracked and need to be replaced; if you have a custom made decal on all of your weights you'd have to order it again with that decal if you want the same aesthetic. Also I heard the most profitable way to have a gym is to fill it with cardio equipment so non-gym regulars have something to do and still pay for their membership but don't attend as often - the average person will never touch a barbell or any equipment associated with a barbell. Not sure about powerlifting gyms and their profitability but I know for commercial gyms they usually invest in cardio areas taking 90% of the gym due to trying to get the "non-exercising" market.
