Lately I've been lifting heavy (5 x 5), more often, but not to failure and I like it

How ironic for me to come across this video now. I did back squats, RDL's & Bulgarian split squats Saturday and my lower body is still destroyed. I take Pre and both Post JYM's and still cant recover as fast as I'd like. I took that as a sign to start a deload period lol.

Forgot to mention I did 15 reps on each exercise haha that’s important

The reason for that is not just related to light vs heavy. Heavy weights you can recover from, but you’re working out lower body, all those muscles are substantially larger than your upper body mass. It will take longer for the lower body to recover compared to upper body on a Split Routine. The way to verify this with your body, is to perform a full body workout with an equal amount of sets per muscle group, light or heavy for every single muscle group. Then observe which of your muscle groups recover the fastest. Almost always you will see that arms & shoulders recover much faster. This is because it has been proven that smaller muscle groups recover faster than the larger groups. I do a heavy to moderate full-body workout every week, but I almost always go in on a separate day and hit arms & shoulders again, abs, and 1 back exercise and 1 chest exercise. My legs may still be sore from lifting moderately heavy from the full-body workout 3 days before. Try the experiment on yourself and see what happens.

@@kylewilliamedwardosbornaka9850 I have been hitting lower body twice a week for a year and have never been this sore, carry on

But Dr. What about the Daily Grind? I was going heavy af and doing the variable rep / weight but hitting every muscle every day, I think it still works and I'm 2 years in, it gets my hyped to go to the gym because there are so many fun things to do

Please tell us what study that is and who did it? Because according to research I’ve looked up that’s not been proven. There isn't much information about a study that says lifting heavy weights helps you recover faster, but here are some tips for recovering after a workout: And it would also depend on your age.

Are there any studies on recovering from tendonitis due to lifting heavy?

Have you ever heard of library or search engine? these places can give you an answer in seconds and im sure you know this.

These kind of studies are fine but personally I've come to the conclusion that what matters most isn't high reps versus heavy low reps, it's all about challenging my body with enough reps consistently 3-5x a week over several years without ever stopping or slacking off.. You didn't mention it but I've found that i injured my shoulders much more easily when lifting super heavy. Once my shoulders and rotator cuff got screwed up, I've had to find other ways to get a good pump in..

I’m In week 7 of the SS8 workout and I’m doing 4 sets of 3-4 reps superset with 4 sets of 26-30…so what exactly is my rest time?
@DrJimStoppani3 күн бұрын
0-15 seconds just as I have written in the program overview.

@ thank you for the reply, I’m asking between the sets. I’m doing the immediate superset, but because I’m mixing heavy few with many light, should I just take the average and wait 2.5 mins between sets?
