Sorry, but western weapons being used by Ukraine to destroy Russian bases on Russian territory is NOT an act of war. It is not a gesture of friendship, to be sure, but weapons deliveries to belligerents have never been considered an act of war. If so, then Switzerland would have been at war with Germany and the allies in WW II at the same time… And Russia is not in a virtual state of war with NATO. That would look VERY different. Very good otherwise

I agree with you, but russia has not, does not, and will not abide by international, conventional or traditional law or rules. That regime only does what benefits those in power (personally and "professionally"). If they say it's an act of special military operation, then it is as far as the russian people are concerned. I hear they're "not good" at politics and it seems that they put all of their faith and trust in putin and whatever decisions he makes for the country and them personally.

The Russians are now unable to defend their own airspace. Who would even come to Russia’s defense? In China it is all about face - The Chinese concept of “face” (aka 面子 or miànzi) refers to a cultural understanding of respect, honor and social standing. Russia has just destroyed its reputation amongst their peers, which puts Russia on the lower step, inferior and not worthy of time, effort and resources, except in certain areas where China is deficient - it is a cabal of convenience, and the more Russia tries, the further it is going to fall, and the less China is going to respect, honor and have dealings with them, especially if secondary sanctions are going to hit them hard.

China is next after Russia. There is no way the US would ever allow China to become the dominant super power. Protectionism and sanctions have happened. China has been planning for it thus the strong expansion into Africa (political support and trade). When it comes down to survival or trade - survival will always be a stronger instinct. The US has already thrown down the gauntlet. China knows it will need to diversify away. Starting with the US chip ban China will need to make its own high end ones, there is no going back.

Realistically this man is failing to believably describe a motivation for Beijing to enter into limitless partnership. He also fails to explore the support Moscow has been receiving from Beijing during the years of this war. It is pretty evident that a friendship and support is serving the geopolitical aspirations of Beijing and as such, regardless how the war ends up going, China stands to gain from it, whether in terms of weakened West, or a weakened Russia.

BASIC FACTS you will NEVER hear on Times Radio and majority of corporate and state Western media. - The Ukraine war started in 2014 when the US overthrew the democratically elected government in a so called "colour revolution" called the Maidan coup paraphrased as the "revolution of dignity" by the US because when Neo nationalist extremists and the US empire takes over your country that's apparently called "dignity" lol. - Straight after the illegal coup, the US/NATO started integrating themselves into the Ukrainian military and flooding the country with weapons and started mass shelling the majority ethnic Russian Donbass killing over 14,000 civilians after they overwhelmingly voted for independence in the 2014 Donbas status referendums. - 2014 Donbas status referendums were in protest to Neo-Nationalists burning alive over 30 ethnic Russian protesters protesting the coup in Odessa. - The term "Russians Orcs" now used widely by Ukrainians and Westerners was originally made up by NAZIS in WW2. GROSS!

Russia has never attacked any nuclear power plants. They liberated one. Western backed Ukrops have continually tried to bomb the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and one or 2 in Russia a few times. What are the odds that China decides to turn it's military attention away from Taiwan and focus more to the north? China has an argument that much of the territory that Russia acquired in WW2 was theirs. Siberia is rich in raw materials, oil, and natural gas which China needs. With Russia depleted and fighting stagnant war in Ukraine I doubt it could hold off a advance from a large modern military like China on a second front.

The EU has pledged a massive assistance to Ukraine in it's war effort and the Chinese are helping Russians as we all know. Limiting combat to specific borders or enemy territories is an ineffective strategy. The Taliban's survival in Afghanistan provides a telling example: they would retreat into Pakistan to evade bombings, rearm, and then launch attacks on American forces. Similarly, the U.S. strategy of not invading North Vietnam but focusing on defending the South ultimately failed. These tactics are flawed because if an enemy has a sanctuary, they can endure assaults and strike when vulnerabilities appear. Under international law, Ukraine has the right to defend itself both within and beyond its borders. If Russia did not want its territory targeted, it should not have initiated a cowardly, brutal, unprovoked, and illegal war of aggression aimed at the genocide of the Ukrainian people. Ukraine should not be constrained in its defense. Here's the reality: even if the West continues to prohibit Ukraine from using donated weapons to strike inside Russia, it's only a matter of time before Ukraine develops its own long-range capabilities. They have been working with enough donated systems to have a starting point by now. Sending solidarity from Scotland! Glory to Ukraine!

If it's lies you want, just follow Times Radio Murdoch propaganda and made UP gossip press. The Chinese-Russian relationship has never been stronger, record trade, new deals being signed daily. This guy has NO IDEA what he's talking about like every guest on Times Radio.

GROSS!

Unfortunately I'm sure this gentleman professor or whatever his title is. I struggled listening to him his trying to tell us what's going on with Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin. I left halfway through, you should really get someone like Professor Michael Clark. Sorry time radio but your not getting it done with this guy...

I agree, way too many "uh"'s and "um"'s - literally every other word. I don't think he could go a sentence without saying one or both of them. I don't mind an occasional one but this was like every other word.

So you're saying that the use of two nuclear weapons in Japan by the US was a sign of weakness by the Americans. They justify it by saying it helped in ending the war and in Japan's surrender. Putin is probably taking a page from the American experience book and might do the same. The insanity on both sides has to end.

I feel same way. I feel Jinping encouraged Putin to attack Ukraine and as a diversion, he would attack Taiwan. Trusting Jinping, Putin went into Ukraine and China baulked leaving Russia entangled in the mess.

I think Russia's power was greatly exaggerated by the west to keep a state of wariness in their people as well as being justified to keep their military budgets in tact.
@Alblaka
@Alblaka 3 ай бұрын
I feel like that is only half the story. Starting out, I fully believe the western intelligence and military agencies when they were befuddled by Russia failing to take Kyiv within a week. Even if they have overestimated or overstated the Russian capabilities, I'm certain they didn't expect *that* level of incompetence. On top of that, you had (and still have) a very active Russian propaganda machine that tries it's hardest to play up every aspect of the Russian military. From the Armata, to Hyper-Sonic-Missiles, to next-gen body armor with physically impossible specs. So, the biggest source of exaggerations has, is, and will always be Russia itself (since basically every military in the world would, towards outsiders, exaggerate their own capabilities, rather than the opposite). As to how much of that exaggeration was actually believed, and how much of it was merely propagated by non-Russian institutions... that it less clear. Though I'll also point out that the only western power with a relevant military budget was the US. Nobody else had plausible reason to exaggerate Russian capabilities to justify military budgets, because nobody else had a relevant military budget to begin with. Think Germany's joke of a budget prior to the Zeitenwende. So, Russia definitely exaggerated, the US maybe/plausily exaggerated, nobody else had a reason to exaggerate, and *everyone* overestimated.
