At the same time, Germany was buy gas from Russia daily... I mean can you make sense of this? You can only think that way when you don't see the other as an equal . This is a phony statement, because Russia get's a large percentage of it's annual budget from gas sales. Don't act like Russia was doing any favors here. If they permanently cut off the gas, then Russia will cut the nose off it's own face, at a time when they don't have many other options to sale there goods. Keep in mind that US and EU control the insurance markets for international shipping, let alone the NATO navies control all the chokepoints.

It’s the moral issue. The general public in Germany actually supports the gas part cus they can’t support Russia. I think it’s a Europe thing too… russia crossed their moral line. Sure the economy will be a decrease and the people will pay much more but yeah it’s similar to the immigration crisis. The public supports it although it may have not been that beneficial and rushed.

What about not turning off nuclear power plants while you are in the midst of an energy crisis? Or using coal power plants in stead while promoting cutting down on CO2 emissions. What about wanting to sustain oneself with renewable energies only in a country, where there are no fast rivers, no heavy tides, not much sun und only here and there a little bit of wind? Or what about implementing a rule that makes it obligatory for nurses in hospitals to be vaccinated against Covid, while you already have a huge lack of nurses and the trust in the medical system will lead to many nurses rather quit their job than to get the vaccine. Or and what about having a health care minister crying all the time how bad covid (and long covid) is while at the same time, having him not promote the wide spread usage of antiviral medication and not do anything to improve mendical research in Long Covid? Those are just a few aspects of the current German idiocracy, or as Heine once put it: "If I think of Germany at night, I won't be able to sleep" And I am afraid that Germany has already become too benighted to wake up before falling to its demise again.

@@deesus1085 Russia offers cheaper gas rate compared to others. So you see as capitalism is at the heart of industrialisation, the capitalist would always go for cheap factors of production so as to maximize profit. If Europe decides not to go for Russian gas ,other industrial countries would go for Russian gas, in the long run industries would need to move from Europe to other countries with cheap gas supplies. The moral here is , who ever owns the natural resources would 80% always be a victor , and with this most other African countries would follow suit. They own the resources. The recursive outcome of what's going on , is more serious that some people see it. It can tip the dominance of European industries.

And given all the signs of management / occupation of Europe from the United States, it’s not independent. Therefore, our government simply does not see the point in talking about such topics and making such proposals - your governments, as before, will brush aside any of our proposals with their inherent arrogance. From Germany here. We still have 3 nuclear power plants running and we did not ration energy. The thing is, we have enough electricity but it takes time to replace natural gas with electricity. For example: we still have power plants that use gas to produce electricity. Technically we could turn them off to save gas and use nuclear power instead. But those power plants also provide district heating for hundreds of homes. We send so much gas to Poland because Russia turned off the Jamal pipeline that goes from Russia thru Ukraine to Poland.

It will likely replace oil and gas as energy sources. There are already plastics in mass production that are not made using petrochemical products, and that's not including the incentive to innovate recycling methods as plastic increases in price. Oil is going away within the century. It's why oil companies aren't drilling, despite having land with abundant oil: they can't get investors to pay for a well that won't pay itself off for 7 years (under ideal markets) when the outlook of gasoline looks bad. Natural gas is a renewable, by the way. Biodigesters can produce natural gas and hydrogen for an essentially carbon neutral fuel source. They take time to build, but faster than nuclear reactors.
