Russia flood: Thousands evacuated from homes as Ural river water levels continue to rise | BBC News

Russia has described the Ural river flooding as a “very very tense” situation, as water levels continue to rise.
Thousands of people have had to flee their homes in southern Russia, and officials in neighbouring Kazakhstan say the number of evacuees there has risen to 97,000.
It comes as water levels in the river - Europe’s third longest - rose to over 10m (33ft) on Wednesday, well above its bursting point, after rapidly melting snow and ice caused them to swell.
Despite the flooding being described as the worst to hit the region in 80 years, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said there are no plans for President Vladimir Putin to visit the flood zone.

here is one - just for you. - I truly feel sorry for the people there, because our country experienced, floods, landslides, lost of harvest last year - it was awful. The cost of food is twice or more now. It will take years to re-build our infrastructure. I am horrified, how a natural disaster is used by so many people here, to express glee and political bias. I guess when one is not able to feel one's own value, it is a relief to have the opportunity to add salt to someone's else's wounds.

I have sympathy for Russians who don't support the war that are affected. I have absolutely zero for those that actively support the war, for the suffering and death they have condoned. And, also, they can blame themselves for their poor infrastructure, because their tax payer money is going towards the war and not to their infrastructure. And I come from a country with plenty of natural disasters, including massive floods. Doesn't change my opinion.
